Not sure if these all fall under the "Indie" category as I'm not even sure what that means anymore but here's some lesser know bands that I've been digging lately: Portugal.the Man, The Sheepdogs, J Roddy Walston & The Business, Banana Phonetic

Any chance I get to spread the word about good, modern indie music, I can't help myself! These are some of my favorites from the last few years that I've come across. I highly recommend them, they're all unique in their own way, and they're worth checking out if you want to expand your musical interests!

    Neutral Milk Hotel
    of Montreal
    The Apples In Stereo
    Mates of State
    Sugar and Gold
    Ratatat
    Bonnie "Prince" Billy (Will Oldham)
    The Go! Team
    The Low Anthem
    Hayden
    Passion Pit
    Girl Talk
    Okkervil River
    The Mountain Goats
    Metric
    The Gossip
    Gil Mantera's Party Dream
    Islands
    Unicorns
    She and Him

    ...Enjoy!

    Fuck yeah.

    Also,

    The National
    Junip
    Dinosaur Jr.
    The Black Angels

I don't know if the last two are really "Indie", but I'll consider it because they're hipster friendly.

glad you enjoyed the show, Dave! they kick all kinds of ass live & they're really nice people as well. we've seen them 6-7 times & they always put on a good show. when we saw them in Austin in 2009, we hung out with them for a bit & had some beers. they even signed our poster! classy group, they are. 8-)

Some good bands in there for sure. But I've just gotta say that I'm quoting it for The Hold Steady alone. That band is the shit, and they are AWESOME live.

    Broken Bells

    I'm with you on these.

    Agree with:
Decemberists (although I'm not a huge fan of the new album)
    TV on the Radio

    Can't go wrong with Spoon.

I don't think Black Keys & Death Cab for Cutie are indie anymore, but I love them. (or are they always indie??? - I get confused about this stuff - I just want to hear some good music)

I'm gonna have to check out Band of Skulls...
