you obviously don't know what your talking about, but I'm sticking with Rodman, he was just such a beast and without a doubt the best pound for pound defender ever, on another note does anyone agree with me that Shaq is the second greatest player of all time??

Take it easy buddy....it was a joke. But thanks for sharing your basketball expertise....I feel enlightened.

Sorry bro, I've been defending AI my whole life so I get frustrated when I have to hear someone say he doesn't pass the ball for the 10 millionth time, plus I think I automatically get pissed every time I see your avatar  no hard feelings man my bad

I'm just being a smartass...no worries. I always liked AI....for some reason I always loved that sixers team that he pretty much carried to the finals that 1 year...2000 or 2001 I want to say?

I don't know if I am comfortable saying the second greatest of all time, but I would rank him very high.

yeah it was the 2001-2002 season I think, the next year is when I started liking the sixers, my aunt bought me tickets to see them play the wizards in January, Iverson dropped 32 and the sixers won, Jordan had 30, 28 of which came in the first half if I remember correctly, one of his better games as a wizard.........I was only in 3rd grade so needless to say I had the time of my life

Oh no...please don't mention Jordan playing for the Wizards. I try to forget that that actually happened. :? :?

he might not even be a top 5 center. i would take wilt and kareem over shaq all day every day. Russell maybe. hakeem and malone maybe. tough call

    Wilt
    Russell
    Kareem
    Hakeem
    Moses Malone?

no way anyone who got yanked in the closing seconds of games because he couldn't hit free throws be mentioned in the greatest of all time category ...

they use the word dominant with shaq for a reason ...

I would take Kareem over Shaq simply for the fact that Kareem was much more able to score outside of the paint.

Shaq can make top 5 centers if we narrow it down to his era. Of all time though, he's up against some stiff competition. There have been some great centers over the years. A lot of Shaq's dominance can be attributed to his size... centers like Hakeem & Kareem were more fundamental and versatile, making them in my opinion more valuable and overall more skilled.

We shouldn't forget David "The Admiral" Robinson either.

i looked at Robinson and thought shaq's numbers stacked up better. that's not to say David wasn't a very solid player

I think it's fair to say though that Robinson may have been an easier center to stop. We've all seen Shaq get the ball in the post and use his body to get into his perfect scoring position. Easy to do when you outweigh everyone on the court by a fairly wide margin.

Don't get me wrong, I always liked Shaq... even in his Laker days (quite honestly, the best years of his career, at least I think so... he was at his peak of dominance during his stint in LA), but as far as being a well rounded player, I think he fell short of that for a while. But ust his presence in the post was enough to make him a worthy player on a teams roster... the fact that he had that kind of overshadowed the fact that he didn't have much of a game outside of the paint.

didn't need the mid range game.

    i'm ok with that.

but i still think Kareem was the better player/center. dude had that unstopable skyhook which was still highly effective as he aged. shaq was more of an athelete and as that slipped away, so did his game.

Had he had a mid-range game though, this may have been a different story.

    no

Mark Eaton. It was easily his best ability as a player.

Stat wise though, in an overall career measurement, Hakeem is number one and Mutombo comes in at number two.
