As for the booing of anthems...I think that shows a complete lack of respect. I would never boo the canadian anthem

Interesting take though...you definitely have some unique stances
yeah you are right booing someone else's national anthem takes no critical reflection. booing your own because you didn't like what was going on in your country would be pretty bad ass - if it was warranted.

I think booing the national anthem should be penalized with a deportation to cuba. we live in a democracy...if you don't like certain things, you have the freedom to engage in groups to do something about it.

I despise rage against the machine for that d-bag zack de la rocha and his asinine political views. not to mention openly burning the american flag. if you hate the country so much, then don't fucking live here.

    what thread is this again?

how do you feel about ed's political views?

I don't agree with all of them, but he has the right to say whatever he wants. He's not on stage burning flags or anything drastic. He speaks his mind...nothing wrong with that.

Just as a small point of clarification Timmy C. burned the American Flag on stage at Woodstock '99, not Zack (there's video on youtube). Fun Fact-ish #2, according to wikipedia (hence the fact-ish) Timmy C. apparently rode his bike in a group with John McEnroe from L.A. to the Santa Barbara Bowl to watch the PJ/Sonic Youth show in '06. Zack's always been more of the Eddie type on stage saying either insightful or inciting things depending on your views - like the time he said that the W. administration should be hung, tried, and shot for ongoing war crimes.

Either way congrats to Dirk, and the Mavs it was a long time coming getting payback for the referee debacle that was '06. Outside of Cleveland, and really even for Cleveland, I will never get the LeBron or anti-Heat hate. There are plenty of assholes out there that deserve more rage than LeBron doing what he does. Kobe likely raped a woman, Gilbert Arenas is still getting paid a lot of money to be a total d-bag, Derek Rose cheated on his SATs and could have Reggie Bushed Memphis but he was "humble" after LeBron showed him how to play basketball, Carlos Boozer once lied to a blind man in Cleveland who was at least a better person than Dan Gilbert, and Joakim Noah refers to fans with homophobic remarks. Plus why does everyone forget that Kevin Garnett is part of the reason the new big 3 happened when he told LeBron not to waste his years in Cleveland? Bron may be a "douche bag", but his main offense is really driven by his personality.

pretty much sums it up right there....people don't like him because of how he acts. Americans are generally a pretty forgiving bunch and can overlook a lot of things, so long as you aren't a douche about everything all the time.

Pretty much got no work done today. Too busy reading all the stories, soaking in all the pictures, laughing at the funny tweets and captions.

I had almost forgotten what it is like to celebrate a championship. It has been what, 12 years since the Stars won the Cup?

Just read it...he's gotten better in the last month. Probably took a year after writing that mammoth book and the freedom of his own sort of website to get there. Dave Zirin just popped out a good one as well http://www.edgeofsports.com/2011-06-13-627/index.html

Yeah it was really hard to concentrate, especially after staying up so late and trying to cherish the moment. I'll be at the parade downtown on Thursday!

My favorite quote from that article, "12:00 remaining, fourth quarter: Doris Burke interviews Erik Spoelstra, who says that Miami Lohan needs to show "mental stability." Good luck, Erik — we're about three timeouts away from ABC cutting to LeBron trying to eat a big red candle like Brick Tamland."

Love reading Bill Simmon's articles, especially his mailbag.

You could also try getting so close multiple times, even as close as getting two games away and never being able to pull it off.

Damn that Michael Jordan. I thought about it late last night, had it not been for MJ, I think the Jazz would've won titles.
