I don't think they'd play him if the risk was very high...I seen him practicing with a full face shield. To me that is a major addition to the Canucks roster...if I'm not mistaken he is 1 of the best faceoff men and takes a lot of important defensive zone draws...very important for the penalty kill and when holding leads in the late stages of the game.
