hey can someone please link the video?
i just found out about this, got a text from someone else here.
my dad's home prefecture is under severe tsunami watch.
Unreal, the land isn't even slowing the water down, at least it looks like a rural area. My girlfriend was in Chile for the earthquake last year so I feel for these guys even more than normal.

The fishing boats, decent sized boats, getting swept across the land by barns and shit is what boggles my mind.
At first I didn't think much of it, they are so used to quakes.
But now i'm watching this and it looks like they're caught off guard...
And its an entirely different feeling when you feel connected to the country.
I've phoned my dad he's rushing home to get to some information - he doesn't have cable at the house he is staying at

Yeah, it looks like the tusnamis are what really are the worst, at least Toyko didn't get the worst of the quake.
I hear you, my girlfriend was in Santiago for the earthquake a year ago and it was one of the scariest 24 hours of my life, I got a voicemail from her freaking out minutes after then I couldn't get ahold of her for a couple hours, not fun. My thoughts are with your family.
Seems like major earthquakes have picked up recently, no? Haiti, Chilie, New Zealand (multiple times), this...
Yeah ... check my location, yo
>
Think this freaks out the east coast boy just a little?
haha, was going to ask you that but I didn't want to freak you out. Didn't think it was the best timing. I was out there for 4 nights recently and was a little nervous, not going to lie. I am begging my girl to move out there, just dont know if I can take 4 pm Yankees games, awesome city though.

It's amazing out here ... but, as an east coaster, it's taken a while to get used to the quakes. I've felt about 8-10 or so since I've been out here ... I think I'm cool up to M5.5 or so before I start feeling uneasy.

Edit: Does your dad live in Japan?
No, he lives over here... on the OTHER side of the pacific which is also susceptible.
We were planning a trip to go back though, and I am planning to study there... :?
I got a hold of him he didn't know about it since he hadn't been around a TV, I texted him and he phoned back right away, now he's driving back to the house he's staying in on Vancouver Island (he's working over there) I imagine he will be trying to get a hold of my aunts and cousins, we have family in Tokyo and in Iwate Prefecture.
I live in Christchurch N.Z where we have lost so many of our brothers and sisters, I feel for these people. We have had so much support from specialist rescue teams from around the world Japanese being one of them. I hope they are now home where they are needed!

My thoughts go out to you as well. I lived in Hamilton for 2 years as a kid and travelled around New Zealand quite a bit. My family was devastated to hear about Christchurch, especially considering my mom studies natural hazards and that is why we lived in New Zealand. It is a beautiful city and country and I hope all is well.

Damn, yeah, my girlfriend couldn't take that, especially after Chile. Not sure how much I could take it either, the ground really isn't supposed to shake like that. Beautiful fucking city thought, dude. I feel in love with it, knew I would.

These are scary times... so many earthquakes in the past couple years.
Hope you are recovering well, very difficult to be in that part of the world right now.
Apparently we're due for a big one on this side of the pond... *knock on wood*

People tweeting in to the news about deaths.. ugh
Well, glad to hear he is on this side right now, it is much safer. I hope all is well with the rest of your family though. I am sure it is really scary, like I mentioned, I know what you are going through and it's no fun.
Yeah, I just heard CNN reading a tweet about someones grandfater dying, brutal.

Boats, cars ... HOUSES ... just an enormous, fast moving wave of debris, it's unreal.

Yeah, just looks like a pile of debris moving across the land, which i guess is basically what it is.

My heart goes out to those affected.
Hey Haffa, do you know where we go to check for Tsunami warnings? I checked the BC govt website and the Emerg. Mgt but couldn't find anything.
