Milwaukee '14 (The 'Yield' Show)
The opening notes of Pendulum are rough to say the least. It improves but is nowhere near as good as in St Paul. It's weird to hear to Mind Your Manners follow Pendulum! Ed talks to the crowd after Lightning Bolt and the first bombshell of the night drops with Baba O'Riley being played as 5th song in. Rick Nielsen from Cheap Trick joins the guys onstage. After Baba, Ed says to the rest of the band - "we ready to do this?" and off they go into Brain Of J. The crowd sound amazing on Faithfull. As No Way starts, I guess everyone would now figure that Yield is going to be played in full! It's an unbelievable stat that this has only been played 12 times, it sounds superb live. Pilate is solid, an excellent performance. At the end Ed says "alright, time to flip the side" and they launch straight into Do The Evolution. MFC is a little loose but Low Light is sublime. Ed announces that Push Me Pull Me "was not a radio single. But it's back when we felt we had the trust of the audience. Obviously we still do". The guitar's are a little light during the chorus it has to be said but overall it's a decent performance of a cool song. Ed tells a good anecdote of when he & buddy stole saw beers when they were kids. Ed ended up with an Old Milwaukee. He ends the story with "this ties in because it's about All Those Yesterdays". All Those Yesterdays is great and probably my highlight of the show so far.
Ed then tells the crowd they are going to play Lost Dogs and the next song sounds like this....they dive into Even Flow. Ed goes missing just before the solo in Sirens, I'm presuming it was mic issue. Rats is broken out for the only time on the tour. Rearviewmirror closes out the main set.
The first encore opens (disappointingly) with Sleeping By Myself and Just Breathe. Ed tells the crowd it's Tom Petty's birthday and he wants to film the crowd singing Happy Birthday to him which they duly do. Ed then plays I Won't Back Down solo, which is awesome. Small Town continues the camp fire vibe. Got Some ups the tempo before Jeremy lifts it through the roof. Very good performance of Jeremy. The encore closes with Porch.
At the start of the second encore Ed talks about the Wishlist Foundation and how awesome it is to see fans involving themselves in charitable acts. The music resumes with Crazy Mary. The anthems of Black and Alive follow. Ed's improv at the end of Black is wonderful. I like how Fuckin' Up only appearances of the tour are at both "album" shows. Great tune. Mike says good night to everyone with Yellow Ledbetter and Star Spangled Banner.
Like Moline, a must-listen because an album is played in full. Like Moline, it wouldn't get close to my favourite boots. Yield aside, highlights for me are Baba O'Riley (just because it's played so early!), Rats and I Won't Back Down.2000: Manchester

Milwaukee 2014
What a sick show. Crowd was insane that night. An epic Rearviewmirror that night - probably the best version of the song I have seen live to date. The obvious Yield performance, the roof about blew off with Baba being played 5 songs deep, an insane Corduroy and Rats, the birthday song for Petty and awesome performance and crowd sing along with I Won't Back Down, one of the best versions of Crazy Mary I have heard in a while, amazing tag on Black, Fuckin Up and Yellow Ledbetter with the Star Spangled Banner to cap the show perfect.
What a great way for me to end my 2014 tour run. Me and 5 of my boys all traded our seats so we could be next to and party together for our last show of the tour together. My apologies to anyone sitting within a 10 foot radius, because beers were exploding on everyone around us all night.Bristow, VA - 5.13.10

Soldier Field certainly didn't disappoint, I can definitely see why it's so well-regarded amongst fans.
Realized I skipped my 1994 shows, so I'm backtracking to the Dissident EPs (Atlanta, April 3 1994) to be followed by the Orpheum show from April 12 1994, then on to a Neil Jam show from Berlin, August 14 1995."The world is full of idiots and I am but one of them."

It's so nice to hear Release open a show. It's just right. Some things are meant to be and one of those things is Release opening. Here it sounds fantastic - maybe because it doesn't happen all that often in the last 2 years. Though it does seem to end slightly early. Oceans follows but I have to be honest and say this song doesn't grab me too much. Nothingman is the last of low tempo opening trilogy. Go starts the high tempo section off. As Ed's vocals come into Mind Your Manners, it's played way too fast for him to keep him. Overall, they play this too fast - as if they are in a rush to finish it. There's a few mistakes, making it the worst play of the song so far this tour. They then tease 20 seconds of "I Wanna Be Your Dog" before going into Corduroy. It's not the smoothest transition or flow but I'd really like them to cover that song in full. What they did play sounded cool. Following Even Flow, Ed talks about "the great Jack White" and his band lost a member in Ikey Owens in the last few days; Light Years is played in dedication. It's a really energetic version of Light Years. Got Some, Dissident and Black Red Yellow isn't the greatest set flow you'll ever see but BRY is without doubt the highlight here. Really groovy and an extended instrumental section too for it's first appearance in 4 years. The classic combo of Lukin/Not For You is back. I always love those songs together. After Once, Ed sees a sign saying how many days it's been since they played Get Right. He talks about it a little but says they can't remember it so that's why they don't play it! They close the main set with Rearviewmirror.
Man Of The Hour opens the first encore with Imagine to follow. Comatose and State Of Love And Trust provide some energy to the encore, though I didn't feel SOLAT felt as strong as usual. It's left to Betterman (surprisingly not Porch) to close the encore.
Evolution kicks off the second encore. Following the Wasted Reprise/Life Wasted segment, the guys toy with the intro to Kiss' "Detroit Rock City" ahead of Spin The Black Circle. After Alive, it's 2 covers in the form of Kick Out The Jams and then Baba O'Riley. For the first time in 4 shows, Yellow Ledbetter doesn't close; it's the turn of Indifference. Unfortunately Ed forgets lyrics in the first 2 verses.
A boot that opens with Release and closes with Indifference has to be awesome, right? I don't know what happened but somewhere in the main set this didn't connect with me and continued through the encores. It wasn't bad by any means I must stress that, I just enjoyed other boots from this tour more. Highlights though were Release, that I Wanna Be Your Dog tease, Light Years and Black Red Yellow.0 -
