Just finished up Amsterdam 2 2014. Much better performance and a step up from the first show there. I still felt that the overall energy was lacking, or at least wasn't captured in either of the first two boots of 2014. Ed definitely had a step up in his performance from the night before, and the band sounded much more in synch. It was kind of a tough show to grasp from a set flow stand point though.
Looking forward to listening to Milan next.

Does anyone know if the Milan bootleg includes Ed's pre-set?
Sadly no. The official bootleg releases have never contained any of Ed's pre-sets.
2000: Manchester
2006: Dublin; Leeds; Arnhem
2007: London
2009: Manchester
2012: Manchester I & II : EV Manchester : Soundgarden Shepherds Bush
2013: Brad Manchester : Soundgarden Manchester
2014: Amsterdam I & II; Berlin; Leeds; Milton Keynes 2018: Berlin; London II; Boston II
I challenge anyone to listen to Release from this show and not catapult it into your top 3 versions ever! (top 3 because of course there are always those personal ones that mean something ).
"I get into a state of consciousness that I can't explain. It is about feeling and not thinking. I get positive chills and insight into things that I can't get to any other way. It is Healing of the Soul." - Mike McCready
My 3rd show of the Euro tour and 11th overall.....
After being missing from the Milan, Trieste & Vienna sets, Pendulum returns to open the show. Love the ending of this one with the drums slightly extended. Low Light follows, could argue that the vocals between Ed & Jeff are slightly out (or that Jeff's mic is too high) but it's still a cracking version. A wicked In My Tree is next - the only performance this tour; at this point the gig could have finished and I would have been delighted, so happy to finally get this gem. Ed quickly greets the crowd - "everyone ready?" before they launch into Go and Why Go. At the end of Evolution the crowd continue to sing the 'oh oh oh' part. Ed briefly asks the crowd to move back cos it's tight upfront - it certainly was! Ed tells the back to move too but he wasn't aware (or had forgot) that there was a barrier in the middle too that meant there was nowhere to go. Anyway, back to the review & music. Corduroy kicks off the main set again. Lightning Bolt is once again superb and clocks in at nearly 6 minutes. Mind Your Manners loses it during the second half of the song, somehow they recover. It's certainly not the worst fuck-up they've made on the song! Ed then once again asks the crowd to move back 3 steps. Despite asking the crowd to step back, the high tempo resumes with the only play this tour of God's Dice. It's much better than the last time played in Europe; the intro being spot on which doesn't often happen. One rarity is followed by an even bigger rarity - Hold On which Ed says is a request. You Are is dedicated to those in-love. It's the first & only appearance of the song this tour and the first appearance in Europe since 2006. Who You Are then makes it's third appearance of the tour - I really do hope they keep this in the set for the upcoming US tour; it's a joy to hear. Mike's soloing on Even Flow goes on for an eternity - not a bad thing! The crowd then chant 'let Stone sing' which culminates in an improv which Ed singing why Stone doesn't sing!! The crowd continue to chant 'let Stone sing' throughout. Stone eventually takes the mic singing a line from Frozen and then tells the crowd "thanks for wanting me to sing but I'm not going to so fuck you guys". It's a great couple of minutes and the band are in good mood. The set kicks on with Sirens, Jeremy and Immortality. Ed then again asks the crowd to move back. Mike then does Eruption and it's followed by Lukin with Rearviewmirror closing the main set.
Sleight Of Hand perfectly starts off the first encore. Ed dedicates Sleeping By Myself to "20 drunk guys in the middle as that'll be what they are doing tonight". All Those Yesterdays is absolutely superb. After Crazy Mary, it's 3 heavy hitters to close the encore in Comatose (messed up intro), Blood and Porch (Ed climbing the rigging during the solo and staying up there when singing the final parts).
Before Blood, Ed had spotted a 4 year old girl in the crowd. At the start of the second encore he gets the crowd to say "Hi Matilda" to her and dedicates Bee Girl to her; just Ed and Jeff on this one. It wouldn't be a show in Berlin without a Ramones song; I Believe In Miracles is dedicated to The Ramones Musuem in Berlin - check it out if you can! It's a party atmosphere for the final 3 songs of the night - Alive, Rockin' In The Free World and Yellow Ledbetter.
Fantastic show and fantastic boot.

"...Dimitri...He talks to me...'.."The Ghost of Greece..".
"..That's One Happy Fuckin Ghost.."
“..That came up on the Pillow Case...This is for the Greek, With Our Apologies.....”
Pittsburgh 1998 • Pittsburgh 2006 • 2012 Isle Of Wight Festival • 2012 Made In America Festival • Baltimore 2013 • Seattle 2013 St. Paul 2014 • Mexico City 2015 • Philadelphia II 2016 • Ottawa 2016 • Amsterdam I & II 2018 • Wrigley Field II 2018 • Phoenix 2022 Apollo Theater 2022 • Chicago I 2023 • Baltimore 2024
Release beautifully opens here. It feels really stripped back and more raw than normal. It's slightly tinged by the guitars messing up at the end. Sometimes is played far quicker than it needs to be - slow it down guys! Small Town is a little rough round the edges, least the guitar is. Maybe just the mix of the boot. Black - again sensational in this early slot. Go/Animal/Mind Your Manners/Why Go is just excellent. I think this is my favourite Why Go of the tour so far. The tempo and flow doesn't stop with Corduroy. It's not the best performance of Red Mosquito you'll ever hear unfortunately. The guys give My Father's Son it's 2nd appearance of the tour and it's a decent effort. U is introduced as "there's alot of you out there and probably only 10 of you know this song". It's actually the first time U has been played in Europe. Green Disease makes it's first appearance in 2 years after last being played in Oslo '12. The main set is brought to an end with Spin The Black Circle and a superb Rearviewmirror.
At the start of the encore, Ed sees a sign by woman that says "sign my shoe". He gets her to give him both her shoes and then proceeds to play Just Breathe. After the song, Ed goes to sign the shoes and gives his bottle of wine to the woman. He then pours & drinks wine from the shoes much to the delight & disgust of the crowd. The reactions on the boot are hilarious. Ed ends by saying to the woman "I feel we have a connection now". The music resumes with the only performance of the tour for Oceans. Mother is excellent. Supersonic and Sonic Reducer combine again but not quite into SuperSonic Reducer like in Amsterdam. An incredible Porch with another superb and different instrumental (best of the tour) closes the encore, a bit of an indifferent encore for me (song choice wise, not performance wise).
Ed talks for a little bit at the start of the second encore; I'm not really sure what about, I don't think he knew either but it leads into Do The Evolution. After Better Man, it's the turn of Alive and Baba O'Riley. As Indifference starts, Ed teases the crowd with "so we'll see you in another 10 years, yeah?" quickly turning it to 8 years and then 2 years. Indifference closes the show.
Another good boot but not at the quality of Trieste, Vienna and Berlin for me.
