If you listen to enough boots, you can clearly tell the difference between all others and the 2008 boots, which is too bad. Even though the 2008 tour is short, some really great shows and great set lists, but the 2008 boot quality is the worst out of the entire official bootleg catalog. Been listening to a lot of real high quality boots lately which have trained my ears, and this clearly didn't stack up. BUT, needless to say, it's probably one of the better 2008 boots and a great show in Mansfield as always. Very good set list with an excellent main set. Love the version of Who You Are in the first encore. The mamasan trilogy in the second encore is always a treat. Get a little tired of hearing the anti-Bush banter during this tour though, but expected.

Doesn't start too well when they open with Sometimes and after the first verse Ed forgets the lyrics and the song is aborted. First and only time Sometimes makes an appearance in 2006 and Ed fucks it up
Rest of the set is fantastic though, Severed Hand becomes the new opener followed by Whipping early in the set. Animal and Dissident hit the spot, Even Flow is immense and In My Tree gets thrown in for one of two appearances in '06. Superb performances of Inside Job and Rearviewmirror end the main set.
1st encore starts with Ed talking about the bootlegs, how every mistake gets picked up and that while he often fucks up in a gig he doesn't think he has ever ruined the opening song before! Come Back opens up the encore and after Betterman and Life Wasted, Penelope Houston and Greg Ingraham of The Avengers join PJ for American In Me.
The 2nd encore is brutal, aside from Last Kiss opening. After that its Big Wave, Blood, Leash (with a superb outro solo), Fuckin' Up and Yellow Ledbetter to finish off the 2nd night in San Fran. An excellent boot.

Not the best show ever or anything but full of twists and turns, great improvs, good humour and the very rusty unrehearsed Satan's Bed. Going to be a nice evening I think...
