A Perfect Circle just did it for their "Stone & Echo" 3 CD, 1 DVD set. It was overpriced to begin with ($160) but sold out and was going for $300-500 on ebay, so they just announced a lower cost release ($60) which will be in less fancy packaging but all the same content. Smart move for the band.

This is very cool! And lots of bands do similar things. The last Mark Lanegan package comes to mind, with three different LP options. And of course ...Like Clockwork. They always provide something for the collectors, but also have a regular versions for us mere mortals... It would be so awesome!
Lol. Yeah, but in cases where I'm a mega-fan, I end up buying every version. image

Well, if you can! If I could, I would go and buy myself a Benny now. But I can't. The edition out there is just not within my financial reach. A regular version would be. It's the same music, and the music is what I'm after...

Benny Hall doesn't count, lol. If I could get a reissue of that, I would forget that an original version even existed! :D

They'll probably release an affordable reissue about a week or so after I drop a grand on an original.

So, sorry for the hold-up. I'll see what I can do to speed things along for y'all. :)

From a band who still hasn't reissued:

    No Code
    Yield
    Live on Two Legs
    Binaural
    Riot Act
    Rearviewmirror
    Lost Dogs

On vinyl. I still don't think Benaroya will get a reissue because it was pretty limited to begin with. If I turn out to be wrong, I would think it would be something they might look at after they get around to making their studio albums available.... It's taking them a lifetime just to do that :)

I'm repeating myself, so you can do it too ;) It is worth trying... I'm keeping the hope alive.

Terance Stamp's General Zod was over the top and awesome. Greatest villain ever. BTW if people got Warner Brothers to release the alternate cut of Superman II there must be hope for Benaroya :)

  • I don't have a vinyl copy of Benaroya. I would like one. And I'd like to get it for less than the cost of a kidney. But I almost lament the day they do re-release it on vinyl. What will I do without all of the "Benny" threads to cause me to laugh, cry & shake my head in disbelief. My favorite is the I-have-a-Benny-and-you-don't thread...aka the roll call for Benny owners. Amazing...

I think they literally have to. Repackage it, I don't care. Flippers are making salaries on this LP and its insane.

    Wind this thing up.

Keeping with the 20th anniversary theme, it'll be 2016 before no code is re-issued.

If you stashed away $1 a day since this thread began, you would be an owner of a sealed copy.

Given 365 days per year, average 30 days a month, this thread started Dec 1 2011, and today is April 30 2014, that would $880. So you are probably right. I'm guessing some people want to pay less and give the $ to PJ or charity not a flipper/collector. But valid point nonetheless.

    Wind this thing up.

Don't know if promo copy is the right word. But the remaining stock held by Ten Club are being sold/raffled/auctioned off at certain events.

This was one of those events that took place in 2012.

I may or may not have a Benny Hall piggy bank... But life is expensive as it is, and yes, I would prefer spending a little less than double my monthly rent on a vinyl record. But yeah, valid point image
