    Currently 'chasing' Wishlist ...
  • This is where we are at so far:

    Project #7 - "Yield Live"

    Track List:

    Brain Of J. - Melbourne, Australia (March 5, 1998)
    Faithfull - Melbourne, Australia (March 5, 1998)
    No Way
    Given To Fly
    Wishlist
    Pilate - Minneapolis, Minnesota (June 30th 1998)
    Do The Evolution
Untitled [Red Dot] - Maryland Heights, Missouri (July 2, 1998)
    MFC
Low Light - Mountain View, California (October 21, 2001)

Push Me, Pull Me - Washington, DC (September 19, 1998)
    All Those Yesterdays
    Improv
    U
    Leatherman

I am kind of surprised that after about a half a day of this thread being up that we haven't hardly any suggestions or discussion. I figured that "Yield" would have filled up about four to five pages by now. Anyway, this is what we have so far....

These are the high sound quality shows I am currently comparing

    Melbourne, March 5, 1998
    Minneapolis, June 30, 1998
    LA July 13, 1998
    Boston Sept 16, 1998

To me, some of the best SQ is coming from Melbourne, but not always the best performances (though some are grrreat)

Highlights so far which could make the shortlist, and be replaced if we find better versions are

All Those Yesterdays - Minneapolis (after false start and long pause)

MFC - Melbourne or Minneapolis - sound is better on Melbourne imo, but I prefer the performance from Minneapolis. Might depend on what the sound of the thing coming before it is, might be a song for people to compare versions.

Melbourne has quite a bright, clear sound on my version - and the crowd noise is sometimes uncomfortable loud, but when the songs kick in, the sound is great.

    I will keep listening!

Been listening to the GTFs from the shows above, but am not that convinced by any of them.

Anyone got any suggestions for a 1998 Given to Fly?

Think I have reached my limit now, so going to have a break from bootleg listening for today

I like the feeling of the Minneapolis version of Wishlist and the fact that it's the original version of the song with the 'radio song' bit. The Maryland Heights' version is nice too if we want to include the subsequent speech (the very last part of it, where he introduces Nothingman, would need to be cut off).

Edit : Since I could keep listening to that one song all night and still not get enough, I think I might give all 1998 Wishlist a listen. Just to make sure.

    Solid.

Thanks, but what about a nice version from 1998 ?

Here are some parameters that we would like to go by for this project:

-All songs must be (with the exception of "Low Light" which did not get played for the first time until 2001) from the 1998 Tour.

-All songs/covers/b-sides/improvs must be from (covers) or originally recorded from the Yield Era [1997-1998].

-We will add 2-3 bonus songs at the end, which will be covers/B-sides/Improvs from the 1998 Tour.

    Sorry...

    Don't be ;)
Am listening to it at the moment, and it's pretty good indeed, even though it doesn't fit within the time frame.

Only 98 era show I have heard / have is Melbourne 98. All great Versions of Yield songs bit have already been mentioned.

Do the Evolution is great however there
may be many more great versions ofthat song as it would have been pop that tour for sure.

Wishlist is great too!! The ending is very nice!!

Rough Draft starting to look like this:

    Project #7 - "Yield Live"

    Track List:

    Brain Of J. - Melbourne, Australia (March 5, 1998)
    Faithfull - Melbourne, Australia (March 5, 1998)
No Way - Atlanta, Georgia (September 1, 1998)
    Given To Fly
    Wishlist - Minneapolis, Minnesota (June 30th 1998)
    Pilate - Minneapolis, Minnesota (June 30th 1998)
    Do The Evolution
Untitled [Red Dot] - Maryland Heights, Missouri (July 2, 1998)
MFC - Los Angeles, California (July 13, 1998)
Low Light - Mountain View, California (October 21, 2001)
In Hiding - Maryland Heights, Missouri (July 2, 1998)
Push Me, Pull Me - Washington, DC (September 19, 1998)
All Those Yesterdays - Park City, Utah (June 21, 1998)
    Improv
    U
    Leatherman

***We can't use DTE from 7/14/98 because that is the same version from Lo2L

***Last Kiss, What do people think of this? Should it be on this compilation?

***Improv from Boston is great, but I am not a fan of the flat sound on that boot. Love the boot, just not the sound. I do not think that it will match up well on this comp for SQ reasons only.
