US Congresswoman shot today in Arizona

Congresswoman shot in head, apparently a dozen people total shot.

Edit: Widely reported the congresswoman and six others were killed.

Edit: Conflicting reports now re. whether she was killed, or is currently in surgery.

    I had just heard about this, and tagged along with it is that Sarah Palin put her on her hit list back in March of '10.

    Sarah Palin has never promoted or condoned any kind of violence what so ever towards any elected official or anyone for that matter. Then again why am I even suprised to hear absurd statments like this. I for got this the is the Moving train. a train that never stops at logic and common sense..

    OK i can "kinda" get how people can get so angry with public officials as to commit such an evil act

    what I CANNOT and NEVER WILL understand is

    how someone can attack little children in an effort to get to their target

    the latest CNN report states that young children were shot

    They also now state, as per a telephone (aired) interview with the University Hospital spokesman

    that the congresswoman is still alive and in surgery for a gunshot wound to the head

    the whole thing is sickening

    the EXCERPT from Jeanwah's post, I looked it up, is merely this

    re: those who voted along with Obama on healthcare

    "We’re going to fire them and send them back to the private sector, ..."

    in effect letting them feel the effects of unemployment (and thus being without healthcare..so that doesn't make much sense does it?)

    anyway, i can't understand any reasoning behind anything SP says, but that's for a different discussion,which I'm sure is already on here

    ANYWAY my point is..there were NO death threats from SP...although I'm sure there are constant threats from multiple sources at any given time on any who "serve the public" by disgruntled persons who believet hat their own views are not being served, just plain nuts

    I'm not experienced with Twitter, but somehow found myself directed there by Google via a "live news feed" link. NPR, PBS and Fox were saying she was dead. I was watching CNN at the time, and eventually, quite a while after the initial reports, they also "confirmed" that she had died.

    Hard to figure out that we can have all these details about the shooter, eyewitness accounts, and live scenes, but can't reliably confirm whether someone is living or deceased.

    GSW at close range to the head... but you never know, depending on the trajectory it could be something that is survivable and hopefully without devastating neurological sequelae.

    Makes me think of Jim Brady, Reagan's press secretary.

    Unconfirmed reports, a guy who appeared to be in his early 20s. Supposedly walked out of the Safeway, walked up and shot her point-blank in the head, then started spraying the crowd, including children.

    Yeah, reading further, I realized the term "hit list" was an embellishment by the media, but the fact that she merely mentions her on that U.S. diagram with crosshairs... well... And I know it's still an embellishment... but...

    yeah, they were on cnn, still saying she had died, even when i went on after i saw your post. however, when the hospital made their report, they changed it to in surgery. that's not to say she hasn't passed. ... but i sure hope she hasn't. i also wish that the others had not as well. but things are not always as we'd have them be. i mostly hope from the bottom of my heart, that the child(ren) that were shot, are OK..and god forbid, their lives have not been taken.

    exactly...i have little doubt the tea party or palin actually wanted anyone shot...they were just trying to energize their base...but they fail to realize that there are some mentally unhinged people out there that will take that rhetoric literally...frankly it was only a matter of time before this happened
