1) If you don't like it then too bad, but stop talking about how much you hate it. With every decision that the Ten Club makes there are going to be good and bad points. If you really love PJ then you are going to spend that extra money to get everything. If your not a huge fan they you are going to stick with the basic plan. Now I know that you can't get everything like before but that is just how it goes. IMO PJ is the best band ever and I think the extra 20 bucks is worth it, so I'm going to get the Analog plan.
2) Some people say that most people are just a member so they can get the good seats. I don't think this is true. I'm a member because I enjoy PJ, I would love to get good seats but most importantly, I love this community!!! Everybody here is so nice and caring, I am proud to be a member! I
3) It is almost the New Year, so I just want to wish every single person on here a happy new year! Don't let this ruin your day, look on the bright side and get on with your day!
When all the whining people leave its gonna be so cool. just think how much easier getting tickets will be once the club is smaller
Thanks 10c we love you

I knew this was coming, and I don't think it's unreasonable.
But for the extra $ what I'd really like to see is 10C offer fan club members tickets that are unique, each show with a different design, to distinguish 10C from TM & make that stub even more of a keepsake.
Oh and
fanclub members get to submit designs for each city, any winning entry gets 1st row to any show on tour.
That would def sweet'n the deal.
I emailed the 10club after I received their email and received a very prompt response.

At least you can spin Pearl Jam Radio at home, instead of the Top 40 pop crap they play at the bar.
I've never once listened to PJ radio.
I didn't say everyone has. But...if someone were to drink beer at home, at least they could play their favorite songs, instead of the crap the DJ puts on at the bar.
How's that different than putting iTunes on shuffle? Silly.

Because not all of us have every single live song PJ has ever played. PJ Radio is awesome. A free radio station (depending on whether you count the 10c fees) that I can play on my phone, loads in 2 seconds and plays PJ all day... people seem to just be looking for something to complain about.
I have been a fanclub member since the early days and regularly read these boards, but I hardly ever post any comments. However after reading the crap on here this morning, I feel compelled to write and say "what a bunch of "whingers"... If you dont like it, dont renew. PJ do not "owe" us anything. To have received the vinyl every year for $20 is unbelievable... Everything has gone up in price since the 90s but the ten club memberships have stayed pretty much the same... And even though the price is now rising, they are giving us MORE stuff to compensate... Thanks to my membership, I have got tickets to every single concert I have wanted to go to - both in Australia and overseas... IMO its worth the $50!

Seriously though, I do way more reading than posting on this site and I've just sat here and read through the last 9 pages of mixed reviews.
I pay round $260 a year for a membership at Third Man Records (TMR) and although I've only been there for a bit over a year, I find their business model miles a head of anything any other band is doing. They have quarterly packages that go out on time, the items in the packages are always greatly appreciated and very well put together and it's always something I go back to again and again.
Pearl Jam probably have mountains of music 99.9% of the fans have never heard (Hitchhiker 2, and the Uke album come to mind), they could easily throw 2 demo versions or unreleased tracks on a each side of a 7" and everyone would be literally peeing their pants in excitement. I don't want to rub anyone the wrong way at the 10c but it really seems like they are very out of touch with what their fans want.
The two tier thing is kind of a slap to those who can't afford it. I understand prices and costs go up and we're lucky it has remained as low as it has for so long but to try and spin it like we're getting cool stuff like "Full-Site access" and "PDF's" for being a tier 1 member is just weak.
I hope the 10c swallows their pride and realizes that maybe they should re-think this whole membership renewal system.
I also understand that by making this post, I've eliminated myself from any "random seat lottery" in the future.

Don't worry about the random lottery...It is rigged to a certain point..I have proff that it is..
Let me rephrase that...The lottery tickets aren't totally random...I know of a fan who won front row lottery tickets two shows in row...Plus he was pretty much in same section of the front row both shows..Wow...He must be the luckiest guy in the world...Or it was setup that way....I am going with it was setup for him to be in the front two shows in a row...
I gotta start this by saying I've been one of the biggest supporters of all that 10C and the band does for their members/fans. But intent doesn't matter anymore. if I told my boss "sorry, but I intended to come to work, but life got in the way", after the second or MAYBE the third time I'd be out on my ass. But come on, they have promised and promised and promised and NOT delivered how many times? Double the price and send me a T shirt. if I get it.
I have a suggestion: how about a boot on vinyl? I mean, seriously, when Benny came out on vinyl, it was $40. FORTY GODDAMN DOLLARS. For 4 vinyls. Now that's a kickass membership perk.
Let me answer that - It's been over a year since Backspacer came out and STILL no info for the fanclub bought cd's and the "extras" that are supposed to be with it! It was a bold face lie - no other way to say it!
i think LIE is a bit much. i'm sure there was the intent to do something, it just got derailed for some reason. not to say that the fact we have not heard anything about it in over a year isn't BS...

Here is the thing...We will never get the reason why they are doing the premium fan club membership...If soemone wants to ask Tim on the AET....They probably will just avoid the question...Just like all of the important questions that are asked on AET...They won't give us a true answer..
Jeremy
Give him a call and ask him next time theyre on. But then again, it will just be a massive whinge-fest about not getting a good deal and so on. Whatever the 10c say or do, people will whinge. And then when they do give an explanation - like "it is impossible to let 10,000 people have equal access to 2,000 tickets" - people still don't accept the answer.
The only beef I have with the 10c is the way they announce tours, nothing else.
Whoever pays the fee to become a 10c member is fan club member...I think making two options for memberships takes away something.I didn't ever think the ten club would do something like this...Since we are supposed to be one big family..But, some I guess can spend more than others..I could have lived with just bumping up the ten club membership 5-10 dollars..

And then you would all be complaining that the deal is crap anyway.
Seriously, you're annoyed that you have a choice between which membership you can have? I think choice is pretty cool. If you're low on cash this year, get the cheaper membership. Over the next year, save up for the full membership.
look, people are complaining because they are increasing the price for those that want to keep their current member benefits. you can no longer get the 7" or the Deep mag with your "digital" membership. that's crap. Fine, increase the price if you need to. But double?
that's garbage. the only thing that this membership does for me is the single and Deep. I have never been able to buy tickets through 10C, so for me they are doubling the price of my membership for the same benefits. Yes, I will admit this will be a good deal for some. But I'm guessing it won't be good for the majority.
what IS the benefit of paying the $25 (Int'l for me)? You no longer even get "full access" to the site. :evil:

Personally, this is not much of a big dealfor me. I can see why others are a bit pissed. It is just one more step away from who the band was.
I would gladly pay even more for more cool stuff. I do wonder why the analog membership gets an additional benefit of a downloaded bootleg...that seems silly at best and down right dumb at worst.
New Stuff In Analog ($40-$50) Membership:
*Holiday Single MP3 (Estimated Value: $0)
*Deep Magazine PDF (Estimated Value: $0)
*Free Bootleg Download (Estimated Value: $0)
*Limited Edition Ten Club T-Shirt (Estimated Value Probably sells for $20, but probably costs them $12)
Stuff Removed From Digital ($20) Membership:
*Holiday 45 Vinyl (Estimated Value: Probably sells for $10, probably costs them $6)
*Hard Copy of Deep Magazine (Estimated Value: Probably sells for $4, probably costs them $2)
The Analog (our current memberships) have been hiked up from $20 to (excluding the T-shirt) $20-$28. So the Digital membership has been hiked up from $12-14 to $28-$34. In the case of the Digital membership that's an increase of $14-$20. In the case of the Analog membership, that's an increase of $0-$8. We're essentially being forced to buy a T-Shirt that many people (including myself) don't want. Pearl Jam have given us some great music, and Ten Club has given us a lot of cool stuff, so I would have no problem paying eight dollars more without getting a T-Shirt. So here's my proposal for a new Ten Club system:
Tier 1: "Analog" Level US $40 / INTL $50
* Full Website Access
* PJ Radio Access (Streaming only)
* Holiday Single MP3
* Deep Magazine PDF
* Members-only Contest Eligibility
* Members-only Merch Discount Events
* Access to Members-only Merch
* Access to Fan Club only Ticket Pre-sales
* Free Bootleg Download - Coupon code included in the renewal confirmation email
* Limited Edition Vinyl 45 Holiday Single
* Limited Edition Hard Copy of Deep Magazine
PLUS
* Limited Edition Ten Club T-Shirt - New Design Each Year sent at the Time of Renewal Purchase!
Tier 2: "Semi-Analog" Level US $28 / INTL $30
* Full Website Access
* PJ Radio Access (Streaming only)
* Holiday Single MP3
* Deep Magazine PDF
* Members-only Contest Eligibility
* Members-only Merch Discount Events
* Access to Members-only Merch
* Access to Fan Club only Ticket Pre-sales
PLUS
* Free Bootleg Download - Coupon code included in the renewal confirmation email
* Limited Edition Vinyl 45 Holiday Single
* Limited Edition Hard Copy of Deep Magazine
Tier 3: "Digital" Level US/INTL $20
* Full Website Access
* PJ Radio Access (Streaming only)
* Holiday Single MP3
* Deep Magazine PDF
* Members-only Contest Eligibility
* Members-only Merch Discount Events
* Access to Members-only Merch
* Access to Fan Club only Ticket pre-sales
10/23/10, Shoreline Amphitheatre, Mountain View, California (24th Bridge School Benefit)
10/24/10, Shoreline Amphitheatre, Mountain View, California (24th Bridge School Benefit)
07/11/11, Paramount Theater, Oakland, California (Eddie Vedder Solo Show)
10/22/11, Shoreline Amphitheatre, Mountain View, California (Eddie Vedder Solo Show, 25th Bridge School Benefit)
So if shipping is included, $25 extra for the t-shirt for internationals is actually a deal as sad as that is. Currently, the PJ20 shirt is $20 plus $11 to ship. whomp

it's not pretty cool to basically say fuck you to long time members but you keep lapping up whatever the 10c spews out. i'm sure they appreciate it :roll:. it's ashame the way only to get a hard copy of the holiday single is to pony up 20 more bucks.
Ron: I just don't feel like going out tonight

your coming off like this raising of the fan club membership is a good thing. well it's not. i loved looking forward to the holiday single and getting a chance for 10c tickets for 20 bucks but now i gotta pony up 20 more bucks just to get the holiday single, fuck that.

It's not a "good" thing. Increases in costs of anything isn't a good thing. It's a shit thing. But that's life. The overall price for 10c membership, in my opinion, is fine with the increase. That's my opinion and it suits my situation. It's cool if it doesn't sit well with you, but stop whinging like they're a shit organisation because of it and never do anything for us. If you don't like it, cool, don't renew.
Can we analog people at least get the shirt in our size? The international membership has doubled in price and all that's changed is this free t-shirt. It wouldn't hurt so bad if it was something each member could wear right. :shock:
Ohhhh good point! I'm 5'1. I need small shirts.
Try being a 6'4 full grown man... these shit PJ shirts wouldn't have fit me when i was 12
seriously, Pearl Jam does not make shirts for adult men... their 2xl would barely fit Ed's little ass

i just wish they'd listen to us fans and improve the 10c tickets system and yes they are a shit organization for what they claim they are. wheres the big bold free thing they promised? where is this "vault" they promised over the years? why have the bootlges gone to crap every year since 00?

I agree with Ziggy. 10C could take a lesson from Metallica.
metclub with its offerings and opportunities is fantastic. if only i was actually "fan enough" to buy it. can you imagine if 10c membership went up to $60!!
so membership goes up $20 but now you get a teesh as well. fuck me, i cant believe whinging their pants off over this. that extra 5c a day is a real killer.
Yeh I've seen Pearl Jam, too. But I can't remember the dates.

Oh goddammit.
1. You whinge that they don't "listen" and don't "improve the ticketing system" - but then whinge when they increase the price of membership by a bit"? They could be lining their pockets with the increase, but they could also be considering increasing the server capacity and services available etc.
2. If you're still waiting for the "big bold free" thing then good luck. It was an idea ages ago that floated and it fell through. Move on.
3. They've never promised to open the vault. Massive misconception. And why would they? They're still a touring and recording band. That stuff will come later.
4. We still get reasonable recordings of every show they play. We got them in 2000 and then people - like you, I'd guess - whinged that we couldn't get them quick enough. So, in 2003, they provided an immediate download to tide us over before the physical CD's came. But no, it wasn't quick enough. So they released them in 2006 onwards for download with days of the show, with - obviously - reduced quality. Then people whinge about the quality.

I would gladly pay even more for more cool stuff. I do wonder why the analog membership gets an additional benefit of a downloaded bootleg...that seems silly at best and down right dumb at worst.

Sammi: Wanna just break up?
I don't lap up whatever they spew out. WTF are you talking about.
Sammi: Wanna just break up?
It's not a "good" thing. Increases in costs of anything isn't a good thing. It's a shit thing. But that's life. The overall price for 10c membership, in my opinion, is fine with the increase. That's my opinion and it suits my situation. It's cool if it doesn't sit well with you, but stop whinging like they're a shit organisation because of it and never do anything for us. If you don't like it, cool, don't renew.
Try being a 6'4 full grown man... these shit PJ shirts wouldn't have fit me when i was 12
seriously, Pearl Jam does not make shirts for adult men... their 2xl would barely fit Ed's little ass
Sammi: Wanna just break up?
metclub with its offerings and opportunities is fantastic. if only i was actually "fan enough" to buy it. can you imagine if 10c membership went up to $60!!
so membership goes up $20 but now you get a teesh as well. fuck me, i cant believe whinging their pants off over this. that extra 5c a day is a real killer.
FFS. HAVE A WHINGE.
Tim made it clear that they won't be doing anything to the servers on AET ...
