I've enjoyed backspacer loads - and tried to articulate why I like it on quite a few occasions. However, after spending 18 months reading this forum I think I would find it hard to tell you quite why the people that don't like it don't like it. I could however give you a detailed list of the exact reasons people don't like the Ten Club, right off the top of my head. Forum members seem very articulate on these points
i agree... don't know for sure what it is i dislike about backspacer... i just know it never clicked... its hard to articulate your grievances when your favorite band doesn't live up to your expectations... the guitars are too clean, the lyrics too "mature"/"cheesy" for me, the songs don't sound like a collective effort, too upbeat... i dunno

i think thats why its so easy to hate on the 10C... its NOT PJ... if PJ was more closely tied to the club you know there'd be a lot more people pussyfooting around their complaints... if people thought PJ was reading the forum they'd be a lot more careful about what they wrote

i don't know what that proves... i think 10C just has to revamp their image in some way... they keep going down the same BUSINESS BUSINESS BUSINESS route without reconsidering anything... bring in some new blood... do SOMETHING new

    That's a very smart observation.

If you want it bad enough just get the analog membership. then you won't have to worry about another upgrade for almost 2 years.
Nah, I'm bummed to miss out on the t-shirt(depending on what it turns out to be ;) ) but other than that I'll get what I paid for - Deep & 7", so no worries really & great to get quick reply from them, especially at this time of holidays.

  • There is nothing wrong with the 10 club in my humble opinion. I get the rights to tickets, awesome community forums, top notch merch, and now they add a limited edition t-shirt and free concert download to my membership. Anyone who thought that the price would stay $20 forever are well.....nuts. They could have easily just charged more and not thrown anything else in. Obviously with small tours sometimes you get shut out of concerts because of supply/demand but that is why I put money away every week so if need be I can get tickets from stub hub if I get shut out.

If you want to complain about 11 cents($3.33 per month) per day to be part of this awesome fan club go ahead. I for one am proud to be part of it. Honestly if you can't afford $40 a year then you really shouldn't be spending $20 per year on this either because you probably have more important uses for that money.

You can complain all you want, you can even not renew, but they are never going to change it. Everyone thinks they just came up with this idea in a week and slapped it on us. I guarantee you this has been discussed for quite a while and I'm sure they weighed the positives and negatives.

Until my membership expires (September 2011) I will try out the Analog to see how the 10C will handle for one year. If I see is not worth it I will then become Digital :|

they kind of did "slap it on us" considering it went into effect the day they announced it without any public discussion/survey... could they not have announced this at the beginning of dec. and allowed regulars the chance to stock up or at least state their grievances?... they could still get new and less fanatic members with the new fee... i'm not talking seniority pricing... but give us the next year for the same low price... show us you can follow through on all thats promised and then you wouldn't have all the complaints next year

This is comical. People whining about an extra $1.66 cents per month, which equates to one cup of coffee. How dare they do that to us.:lol::lol::lol:

you're in luck... i gotta decide next week... the way i see it its $40 for a decent package (w/ a shirt i REALLY wanna see before i order) or $20 for nothing... i would like to take a principled stand and just pay the $20 but i can't justify paying that for nothing but ticket privileges... if i pay the $40 i look like a hypocrite for all the bitching i've done here... either option is more than i wanna spend right now but i'm not about to lose my number after 8 years

kudos again mr. math for your number crunching skills

i should put you in charge of my student loans too... cause some of us just graduated with a lot of them

and before you question my priorities again... i never claimed to be a man of reasonable priorities... but PJ has been an important part of my life since i was 14... enough so that i can justify spending $20-40 i don't really have

I think one thing about the price rise is we *should* expect some more from the 10C as a result. I always thought the existing price was a bit on the cheap side for what they were trying to do. When my membership comes up next I will go analog, but I'll be expecting more from them overall too.

yah with it being the anniversary year i think we could expect more in terms of merch and touring... $40 could be worth it... maybe one year of analog then digital next year... then Armageddon dec 2012 solves the problem

You have the right to complain...but who cares about you being a hypocrite...try out if you can the analog membership if you see is not worth it then become digital. I don't think we will loose our membership numbers if we change from Analog to digital...
  • You kids. Why, in my day, a 10c membership cost a nickel. Now go outside and rake the leaves off my front yard!

your seniority is only lost if you don't renew at all. It doesn't matter which plan you pick, your member number stays the same.

  • If you ask me they shouldnt offer the digital membership. Make everyone have the same $40 membership.

Personally all I care about is ticket priority and the vinyl. Ticket priority alone is worth $40.

I guarantee when there is the presale for the next tour, thread after thread will be "I pay forty bucks & I cant even get tickets, this is bullshit".

tenclub is setting themselves up for a shit storm.

They would whine about it with a $20 membership. So whats the difference? They have never once anywhere guaranteed members tickets. If there are more shows your chances are greater. If it's not good luck getting through.

Ten clud should have left everything alone...But, just bumped up the membership 5-10 bucks....I would have no problem with that...
  • They never officially guaranteed tickets, but through the 2003 tour if you requested tickets you were not turned down.

I really like it that there are people on this board with different opinion. It's a good and normal thing to have an open discussion. Most fans here are able to do so.
What is sad is people like you, who are intollerant and closed-minded.
So not to agree with you equals 'whining'? Interesting.
Labeling other fans as 'whiners' is the poorest way of arguing.

I guess there are good arguments on both sides when it comes to the new Tenclub membership plan.
I find it to be a good idea to offer different packages, but these packeges are poorly elaborated in my eyes.
