Without a doubt, Neil Young's Le Noise. But that may change after Ryan Adams' III/IV.

Yeah, I suspect III/IV will crawl to the top of my list.
Believe me, when I was growin up, I thought the worst thing you could turn out to be was normal, So I say freaks in the most complementary way. Here's a song by a fellow freak - E.V

Stone Temple Pilots by Stone Temple Pilots

    Runners up:
    Pete Yorn by Pete Yorn
American Slang by The Gaslight Anthem
I really wanted to like the Dead Weather album, and I really don't. Are things just overrated sometimes because it's another Jack White side project?

I feel the same way about their albums, they have some good tunes, but other than that...meh. I don't like The Raconteurs much either. I love The White Stripes though, one of my favorite bands.

I can't wait for their second album to come....I personally thought Band of Horses new album was kinda boring.

  • One of my TOP 5 this year is a record by a band called the Young Veins. It is called Take a Vacation.
While they may have been born from some unfortunate circumstances (the two main members are formerly of Panic at the Disco) this disc is an incredible throwback to the 60's. I swear it could actually pass for the Beatles

Check them out if you get the chance (BTW, though i shit on Panic at the Disco, there second Album Pretty Odd is awesome lol. the first is utter tripe)

ANY WAY.. my top 6 of the year in no particular ordr...

    Arcade Fire - The Suburbs
Young Veins - Take a Vacation
Band of Horses - Infinite Arms
Against ME! - White Crosses (AMAZING live band)
    Broken Bells - Broken Bells
    Brandon Flowers - Flamingo

Honourable mention goes to KOL, Vampire Weekend, Mumford and sons and the Black Keys... i think the Keys are a tad wildly overrated, but still quality music

PS!!!! I see a LOT of love for The National. Can anyone fill me in on these guys? Looks like I totally missed the bus on them. what are they comparable to? what are they like?

    Thanks in advance
"It's No Crime To Escape"... AGAIN and AGAIN!!

The National are the missing link between Bruce Springsteen and Joy Division, Their album Boxer is definably one of the best albums in the last 10 years.
I agree Against Me! is an amazing live band but I absolutely hated White Crosses.

Some good lists, you guys. The new Ryan Adams isn't out til Feb or so, no?

Yesyesyes on Local Natives. My far & away #1. Love that album.

No <3 for Best Coast here? Her album is fantastic shit. Cute, on-the-surface diary lyrics, but she captured the fuzzy so-cal power-pop aesthetic perfectly.

How bout Kanye riding the laurels of his perfect 10.0??? Eh.

    My 10:

    1 Local Natives "Gorilla Manor"
    2 Deerhunter "Halycon Digest"
3 Best Coast "Crazy For You"
4 Band of Horses "Infinite Arms"
5 Good Old War "Good Old War"
    6 Arcade Fire "The Suburbs"
    7 Eels "End Times"
    8 Surfer Blood "Astro Coast"
    9 Beach House "Teen Dream"
10 The Morning Benders "Big Echo"

    Hon Men:

Justin Townes Earle, Sun Kil Moon, Frightened Rabbit, Black Keys, Broken Bells & Sufjan.

Can you believe Vampire Weekend's "Contra" came out in 2010? Doesn't that feel like years ago already?

Yeah, and it's funny, I really only like 3-5 songs off the whole thing so that says a lot about what I think of this year for music. Not so great. Do enjoy Jack's album though.
