Those are national sporting events. If you go to most of these countries you'll be hard pressed to find a flag anywhere. Even here in China - which is another country that likes to promote nationalism, you only see the odd flag flying. I don't know of any other country in the world apart from the U.S where people fly flags from their houses - apart from during the World Cup.

We here in Canada fly flag from our house's, maybe not quite as many as America, but we do.

Well, the U.S. has a much better looking flag then China. :D Plus, the bunting is actually a pretty classy look.

It is ironic that most the US flags were probably made in China. :shh:

It has nothing to do with drama. It has everything to do with being torn to pieces like a seal in a shark frenzy on this board.

Ahhh, c'mon, I've disagreed with folks around here before and never felt as if I was being torn to pieces. Well, except that gimmesometruth guy, but he's a total karate bully.

and lol that is not the first time i have been told i am going to get shot in the last 2 weeks lol...

i took a self defense class one time at my old fighting gym that showed us how to take a gun away taught by a swat team member. someone asked "how do you take a knife away?" and he replied "you don't. if someone has a knife you run like hell..."

hey, at least we're not holding a parade every year and pulling our missles down the street, with our army goose-stepping in front of it.

I wouldn't say anyone's uneasy about it. It just seems a bit weird. And the military goose-stepping stuff is put on by politicians, not the citizens.
The whole flag waving thing from houses and front lawns is a typically American thing. Not sure why that is.

Not to mention the plege of allegiance at schools in America. What the fuck is that all about?

    ...
Place a sign in your front yard that says, "Merry Christmas" and see how many lawsuits are draw against you. I am going with zero to none.
The whole Happy Holidays came about because of the good old fashioned tradition of Capitalism. Retailers want Christians dollars... and Jewish dollars and Muslim dolllars and Hindu dollars between Thanksgiving and New Years. There is not law saying you HAVE to say 'Happy Holidays'. Retailers took up that tradition to... guess what? Make money by selling to Jews and Muslims and Hindus.
    ...
Now, publicly funded institutions went away from 'Silent Night' and opted for 'Jingle Bells' instead because of whay? Because they didn't want to add, 'Dradel, dradel, dradel' to their Christmas shows. You cannot endorse one religion over another in America because of that pesky Bill of Rights. Your Churches and homes can have a Christmas show with 'Silent Night'... your church and home can display a Nativity Scene... your church and home can post 'Merry Christmas' on the marquee.... but, our court houses cannot because court houses are public buildings, churches and private homes are not.
Retailers such as Target and Wal-Mart CHOOSE to put 'Happy Holidays' in their ads for one reason... good ol' capitalism. it's not about Allah... it's all about Dollah.
