if mel was a bleeding heart liberal with a similiar checkered off screen history, there would not be any problem what so ever. hollywood is filled, almost to capacity, with those kinds of people.
I was so excited to see the Hangover, but was completely let down. I think I laughed once, during the scene when he gets zapped with the taser by the kid. I thought it was the most overrated comedy ever. Everything tried too hard to be funny. It was almost obnoxious. I like slapstick humor, but it has to have a subtle witty twist to it. Mel Gibson is better off not being part of the sequel. It's going to make lots of money, but will probably be stupid.
On the other hand, I wasn't expecting much out of the movie Step Brothers, but laughed my ass off, so hard I was crying during the sleepwalking scene..
I guess its all relative. To each their own.
The funniest movie ever hasn't been made yet and may not be made, and that is the Arrested Development movie.
Does anyone else think that a sequel to the Hangover is just a bad idea?
They caught lightning ina bottle, now they're gonna milk it for more money and the sequel will suck.
Yeah... what the hell is the plot going to be? someone else getting married?
It will probably have a few good laugh lines, but will be a shit movie.

the hangover fucking sucks... the hangover 2 will fucking suck... unless its just zach and ed ad libbing for 2 hours... fuck bradley cooper... not funny... he radiates douchiness
glad they were able to get another room full of stoned frat boys to write a sequel... maybe they can throw darts at cliche plot events again to sequence their story... maybe even get someone physically deformed for a few cheap laughs?? OH BOY
The Hangover was fucking high-larious! And it stands up to multiple viewings. I wonder if you have to be prone to such behavior to actually think it's funny. Maybe not. Anyway, I know funny, and it is. Still, a sequel is a bad idea.

I can see where folks can be seen as hypocritical for not wanting Mel but being OK with Iron Mike.
However, after having so much success, members of the cast and crew may have more influence over who appears in the sequel.
Zach Galifianakis was expendable in 2009 (i.e. his opinion didn't count for much)...now, for the sequel...not so much.
Just a thought.

I've been wondering about that myself. I thought the Hangover was funny and liked it as a stand-alone movie. I just don't see how it really lends itself to a sequel though.
I can see this starting a line of movies like the American Pie franchise that just keeps getting worse and worse...
as a minority in this, i feel the need to make my stance known as often as possible... the hangover was one formulaic comic cliche after another... i dont expect a comedy to really break new ground... but come on! give me something! dick jokes, the racial stereotype character, pointless celebrity cameo, bradley "douche bag" cooper... yawn
thank god i can still enjoy zach live and on bored to death

I agree with you man. I didnt know if i just expected more from the hype, but I thought it was ordinary.
An Asian guy jumping out of a trunk totally nude and beating the crap out of people is ordinary ??
I wanna know what life you guys live
it's a fucking funny ass movie. there is no doubt about it. people just have to ignore the hype surrounding it.
That sums it up pretty well.
I dont think about whether or not a movie is full of cliches or any of that other bullshit. I laughed my fucking ass off watching the hangover. I laugh my ass off every time I watch it. That's all that really matters to me.
