Now if they only can keep this station for more than a week! SIrius did the same thing with Led Zeppelin a few years ago. But this Pearl Jam Radio kicks ass. And I learned how to say Jeff's last name properly! A-ment!
Found out today that Pearl Jam Radio will not be a forever thing.
The station is called "Limited Engagements" - XM 39 and when this radio is over, another artist will take over.
:(
I think you have incorrect info . See http://www.sirius.com/pearljamradio this is the same thing SIRIUS did when they added the grateful dead channel
I don't know man... I've now heard two deejays on other channels mention that it's for a limited time just to celebrate the 20 year anniversary.
it's not limited. they would've mentioned it in the press release. we were told ahead of time the led zeppelin channel was limited. and why would there be at least 2 programs that i know of "of the earth" and all encompassing trip for a limited channel?
still can't find on iPhone Sirius app, has anyone?

I mean don't get me wrong, I certainly hope it's not limited and the thought didn't cross my mind until I heard the first deejay say it on Saturday and another one today. These were two different channels that were obviously reading a promo script because it was word-for-word the same. It starts with the phrase "In honor of Pearl Jam's 20th anniversary we are bringing you Pearl Jam radio for a limited time on XM channel..." and then again at the end they're all like "again, don't miss Pearl Jam radio on XM 39 and Sirius (whatever channel) for a limited time as we celebrate their 20th anniversary". Please know that I'm not arguing with you at all, I just find it odd that they would say that.

i know you're not arguing. But from everything I've read. And the email newsletters i get from sirius. limited wasn't used. Maybe the deejays meant limited time on those channels until they get a new permanent channel.
1. Is this radio station permanent or temporary? I can't find anything on Sirius' website saying this a temporary station. It was my understanding from the original press release that this station is permanent like the Greatful Dead and Bruce Sprinsteen channels.
2. What day and time does the show The All Encompassing Trip air?
Just a heads up if Sirius people stream it online, but the channel to listen is actually 813 for online listeners. Channel 17 is still Jam On. If you click Music, Rock, then scroll down to 813 "Music Showcase" this is actually PJ Radio. Not sure if anyone else had issues finding it or if I'm just an idiot.
Also for the Blackberry App, I found it in "Categories" in "Showcase" all the way at the bottom; IT's NOT IN THE ROCK CATEGORY.

To confuse matters all the more, I emailed a friend of mine who's a jock on another Sirius channel to see if she knows if it's temporary or permanent, and she said the talk around the office is that it will be around for a year. She said she doesn't know that with certainty, but that's "the word on the street."
So I guess enjoy it lots, and tell the Siri/XM peeps you do, and maybe that'll help make up their minds.

There are a ton of people mad that the rock channels (and the "single artist channels") are basically taking over the stuff you can't get elsewhere, such as latin jazz, movie music, and whatever else.
Part of what really helped satellite radio was the diversity of the content. What is "diverse" about 20+ rock channels and 2-3 rap channels, 2-3 jazz channels, and another 2-3 international channels?
Keep Pearl Jam Radio, but increase the diversity of the music!

anyone listening right now know where this version of 'ledbetter' is from?? Amazing.
From the above site, 11/6/93 (Mesa, Arizona).[/quote]
Anyone know if I can get this song online? I just checked Gremmie & couldn't find it. I LOVE Ledbetter & would love to hear any version that another 10Cer says is amazing. TIA.

I think it was 2005 when they did the two straight at the Gorge? The first night had an AWESOME YL with the "Little Wing" tag leading into Star-Spangled Banner.
2003 @ State College had another great YL:
On the official bootleg release of 5/3/03 - State College, Pennsylvania, Vedder sings "I'd like to wish this war away, and I tried but it just, just don't happen, don't happen that way/And my brother...they sent him off to fight for the flag, I just, I don't hope he comes home in a box or a bag", and "And I know that he's just following his path, as long, as long as it's not a box or a bag."
FYI, according to Wikipedia 11/6/93 was the first full live version of YL.
I think it was the "Live at the Garden" that featured one of the first times Ed sang about his "brother coming home..."
I know the (year) 2000 boots had a lot of references about no one being home and leaving a message on a phone. Concerts from 2003 and newer featured a lot of references about a brother fighting overseas.

I just got XM for my truck. Loving this station. Just the other day I heard Chloe Dancer/Crown of Thorns from MLB, followed by Red Mosquito followed by Push Me Pull Me, then Come Back live. Can't get a better variety than that.
I'm finding the audio quality on Sirius online noticeably better than PJ Radio. There may be a number of reasons for this. Anyone else finding this?
is the sirius channel playing the same thing as the pj radio thing?
No it's different, and aimed at a different audience - though both programmed by The Rob. PJ Radio is probably aimed at the more hardcore Pearl Jam fan, whereas Sirius is aimed at both hardcore Pearl Jam fan, and new fans, or less fanatical fans. It will also feature more 'interactive' and discursive elements, and features - more along the lines and format of a mainstream radio station - although a radio station playing only Pearl Jam! (and closely related!!) I imagine we will get some 'documentary' style programs in the future..... etc etc
For all these reasons (and the quality issue) I have been enjoying Sirius a lot more than PJ Radio. On Sirius the Robster does still dig into the crates and the vaults, and play less known or less available live cuts etc - but he has to appeal to the broader audience at the same time - a difficult task, which I believe he is succeeding at admirably!
