NFI. I dont know how Australia needed to chase more than Sri Lanka.

It was so cold out there, I had to buy a jacket, and I've also got food poising from the SCG. I didn't drink enough to warrant a spew, spewed my guts up during the night and I feel not so good.

the d/l system is the fairest thing to happen to cricket in as long as i can remember.

the overs given to the australian team in which to chase (39?) is related to how much time is lost.
i understand the concept of d/l, but not the complex algorithms that are used to calculate the targets.
basically it's related to "resources" left.. i.e wickets and overs. and then placed against formulas derived from analysis of the history of 1 day cricket.

so as SL had only lost 3 wickets, the d/l system presumes that they had a high % of resources left (7 wickets with 12 overs to go or so). meaning they couldve taken more risks and hit more runs in the their last 12 overs than say if they were 8/213. if they were 8/213 at 38 overs, we wouldve had to chase a much lower target of our 39.

as we had 100% resources at the start of our innings which was made shorter, we were considered to have to make a higher score. its a really accurate way of evening out a game.. compare this to the rain affected 1992 WC semi between england and sth africa, which was an absolute joke.

Well if they considered our 'resources' and how shit they're going, we would have only had to chase 100.
