Clarke's stocks have risen in my book.....
Finally he steps up in a tough situation.
That cut shot he played for a boundary was just magnificent, hit so clean.
And I am so happy for Ricky, champion player, a big f*** you to the critics.
Reminds me of that Steve Waugh tonne at the same ground in 2003.
    And Hussey, well done.

haha,.. good to see... I mean, I think we all had the image of him being a twat... and what he did after the test in 08 is no excuse...

that aside, I was thinking tonight, if I was some 'hot' commodity in cricket, or any other sport... getting paid a ton, I would probably want to buy a fast car and bang some hot chicks too... hell I want those things too...

When you compare his captaining skills to dhoni, they are so far apart atm. Clarke left cover vacant nearly the whole day yesterday, and dhoni had men everywhere from quite early on in the innings.

I hope he goes on and gets 300

    curryinfo.com is laughable.

as for serialthrilla... clarke will be a far superior captain to ponting, although thats not hard. i'd be better captain than ponting. he might have me covered with the bat, but he was a terrible tactition.

    How good was that...

Just started raining in Sydney... hopefully it won't tomorrow and we can get these Indians out... Hopefully there isn't another big partnership of Laxman Tendulkar like in 2000...

Yeh, could be right. But TBH, if they're wanting to get Watson back in I wouldn't be surprised if any of the top 3 go. Apart from that century, Warner hasn't set the world on fire.

And I feel sorry for Lyon, but India just have his measure. He needs to bowl like 7-10km slower I feel...

I feel incredibly sorry for Lyon.... He actually bowled so well today.. and I didn't realise until he changed ends that we was bowling from the wrong end... spinners always bowl from the Randwick end at the SCG, he bowled all day from Paddington...

And I think he is the best of a not so great bunch... Doherty, Haurtiz... Lyon has game... He just needs to slow it down a touch....

If he got Tendulkar out with that close LBW, or had someone near 45 for sachins sweep that went wrong, then we may be talking differently....

Plus, he is going out with a mates sister, so I hope he does well on the count too...

Too many young spinners have this thing of thinking they need to put the ball through as quickly as they can, they learn (often too late) that different paced deliveries are a valuable part of their arsenal. We had a young lad here in England a few years ago, Chris Schofield, who was going to be the next big thing. Never happened because he got "found out" and didn't develop his game beyond trying to bowl the fastest leg breaks he could...

Lyon looks more than useful, you guys should stick with him for a while.

I agree, its funny though cause he still seems to flight the ball even when he puts it through quickly... I was watching him live, and every ball just seemed to go through too quickly. I think he was a bit too defensive against the indians. On the last day of the sydney test, he slowed by 3 or 4, and he looked really good. He was testing laxman well, had a good lb shout against sachin and sachin also top edged one which went straight up, but short of the man.

In Aussie cricket, the blokes who have followed Warne, Mcgrath and Gilchrist have all be unfairly compared...

Lyon is no Warne, so we can't expect him to rip through oppositions. And Warney had a tough start to his career. Lyon has taken 24 wickets at 30... Swann is averaging 28. so not too much difference there. And he is in the toughest series he will have. India in Australia...

But he is the best of a not too impressive spinners in Australia... He is like the smartest student in the dumb class...

I still think the most balanced attack I've watched an Australian team have was when they came over here in 1993 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Australian ... nd_in_1993), Tim May and Shane Warne worked really well together. Brendon Julian was a good variation as well, and obviously there was Merv and McDermott.

In a lot of ways, I don't think May was ever really replaced. MacGill was another leg spinner, never in the same league as Shane but did OK over here in club cricket and I saw him play 2nd XI games for Somerset a few times, always impressed.

We had an Aussie off-spinner called Dan Cullen for a season, what happened to him? He came over with Cameron White...

YEh he did no good... he played one test I think... Against Bangladesh and only took one wicket, so can't be any good...

White was no good either... just bowled fast, flat leggies that were more like top spinners.

MacGill was great... If it wasn't for Warne he would have 450 test wickets. he got 208 in limited opportunities, and he would have been in any other test team...
