Well, I am enjoying this while it lasts. So much so that I could really give a fuck about the Cowboys right now.

Is that more because of the success of the Rangers or the 1-4 record of the Cowboys?

Both. I've been going to Rangers game since I was a little kid and they have always been a laughing stock and now they are finally doing something and that is an awesome feeling.

I am pissed off at the Cowboys right now. I don't like their attitude, I don't like their coaching staff, and I am seriously starting to hate the owner. The feeling around here is that enough is enough. Enough talk, enough glitz and glamor, enough about the Death Star, enough about TV shows and circuses and all of that. I am getting sick of the sideshows and just want them to play football for once. They can't just play football without controversy and everyone analyzing everything to death. I bet Yankee fans can relate.

Right now the Rangers are like the anti-Cowboys. No pretension, no sense of entitlement, no "me first". Their stadium sits in the shadows of the Death Star and the occupants of the that monstrosity should look out the space port and see the Rangers and learn a little something about how a team plays.

I love the Cowboys and always will, they are just irritating me right now.

I enjoyed them more when I was a kid and they were a farm team for the Dodgers. But it's still fun to go to an AFFORDABLE game and root for the home team.

Great post. I'm also a Rangers fan since day 1. I even worked at the old stadium in 1973!
After being the laughingstock for so long, it feels unbelievable to have so much to be happy about.

Wow! I miss the old stadium. My wife and I had our first date there! I loved the way the outfield would get so loud when everyone stomped their feet, especially on bat night. I loved that you could park for a few dollars and sit in the bleachers and watch Nolan Ryan for about $5. I used to do my homework out there when I was in college. I would sit at the top of the bleachers with my books and do my college homework. I went to UTA down the street and used to work at the Barnes and Noble there on I-30. It is gone now.

I'd forgotten how loud it used to get! Too funny!
One of my best memories of the old stadium was taking my nephew (10 years old and visiting from out of state) to a game with Seattle. Nolan Ryan pitching against Randy Johnson! Helluva game! Some dude behind us was smoking a pipe and by the time the game was over there was a huge cloud of smoke in our section! Good times.
I remember that Barnes and Noble. So many places around that location that are gone. I know the old stadium was kinda crummy but I saw a lot of games there.
