just found this topic. I'm a lifelong rangers fan. can finally be proud of them after so many years of let downs. :D

the TBS broadcasters are awesome compared to ESPN. im so glad their not doing it. cant stand hearing Joe Morgan spend an hour talking about one play and how he would do things when he played.

If TBS can replace Ernie Johnson, I'm happy.

Seriously TBS, keep your shitty NBA announcers out of baseball.

Gutsy comeback game for the Rangers. I'm very confused by the antlers thing, but whatever floats your boat.

    OK let me explain.

The Claw started off as a long distance high five, given when someone makes a good play. It sort of looks like a claw so they started calling it that.

The antlers come from Josh Hamilton. He encourages everyone to run like a deer. One day in spring training, or maybe early in the season, someone made an antler sign after stealing a base. It caught on and they have been doing it all year. The antlers are given when you do something that requires speed. In other words, you ran like a deer.

Oh and the players had Nike design shirts just for them with the claw and antlers. Eventually they started selling them.

Like I said the players have been doing this for a long time. They are just getting attention because of the playoffs.

For the most part I'm liking the TBS coverage. I don't much care for Fox's but what can you do.
Guess I'm just not a fan of color commentators in general.

    If you say so.

If the crowd yesterday didn't give you an idea of how popular the shirts are, I tried to buy one Saturday morning at the Rangers store in Ft. Worth and there are none to be had. The people working there looked like they were really tired of answering that question.

Kind of a big game tonight.

A lot of pressure riding on Cliff Lee, but as he showed in Game 5 against the Rays last week, he can handle it.

But this isn't the Rays' pathetic excuse for an offense. And David Price is no Andy Pettitte.

For the Rangers to win, Lee is going to have to go out and completely shut the Yankees down. If he gives up 3 or 4 runs, this will be a loss. I don't see the Rangers offense jumping all over Pettitte like they did with CC and Hughes. But then, I didn't see that happening either so who knows. Hughes was unbeatable in Texas against the Rangers and I figured he would continue that and Colby would struggle. The opposite happened.

Tonight does not decide the series, but if the Rangers win, the Yankees will have to face what to do about tomorrow. Will they run Burnett out there and look at possibly being down 3-1 after that and then face CJ Wilson again? Assuming AJ is as bad as he has been?

If the Yankees win, do they run Burnett out there and let the Rangers tie it 2-2 with Wilson and Lee coming up?

I don't know if it was Sportscenter that I heard but they said Lee struggled at the end with Texas and now he's doing great. AJ can turn it around. I have faith in him.

So, I had a little trouble sleeping last night due to a case of giddiness. LOL.

I don't know what else to say about Lee that hasn't been said. I was just sitting in awe at every pitch, every strikeout, every frustrated Yankee hitter that marched back to the dugout.

What is amazing is that Lee is setting a dangerous expectation. We are starting to be conditioned to expect this. I wonder if that affects opposing hitters too. The Yankees (like the Rays) talked of being patient, and about how Lee always throws first pitch strikes and about how they had a game plan and none of it mattered. As a lifelong Rangers fan, I have never seen anything like this, unless it was the Rangers on the other side of the equation.

Hamilton and Young are waking up, and that is going to spell trouble for NY. Hamilton has already done some damage and if he gets hot, like July and August 2010 hot, the Yankees are doomed.

I wish Vladdy would get it going, but I don't think he will. He really looks lost at the plate right now.

No idea how tonight goes. Tommy Hunter has been fantastic this year, but he laid a huge egg at home against the Rays last week and he looks worn out to me. Nowhere nears as dominant as he was earlier in the season. And then of course there is Burnett and his issues. Maybe he gets it together tonight. Maybe he has another disaster. Who knows? All I know is I can't wait to find out.

I think the announcers said everything about Lee last night that everyone knew.

Hamilton only has two hits in LCS and both were home runs off of lefties.

Why does that surprise.... Look how they view the 6 games they play against us every year. I've been bored with it since 2002 or so! Overhyped doesn't even do justice

Maybe they should focus on the phillies maybe they'll finish within 10 games in the next decade

As for Texas... They have been impressive, but we still have something in the tank

That is stupid. The Angles make it to the World Series and I am pulling for whoever they are playing. How can you root for a division rival in any circumstance (unless them winning directly affects your team in a positive way)? Isn't that fraudulent?

    thats the mets for ya

same way the mariners traded a stud pitcher in their own division

and people wonder why these teams suck year after year...they are more worried about other teams over their own

if the mets played the sox in the ws..i would root for the mets..like 86

same way i rooted for the phils over tampa bay 2 years ago...

Nellie, your a Yankee fan... it's easy to not hate the Mets as much when you have 27 championships to 2. If it was the other way around and you have to live in a city where their is a superior team always in your face, you would not be so easily flip about it. Ask Clipper fans if they root for the Lakers, or Cubs/White Sox fans.

Live amongst Yankee fans for your entire life and then tell me it's stupid. I won't root for the Phillies either. I forget baseball exists if they play each other like last year.

I don't live in a two-team baseball town so that dynamic is hard for me to understand. Speedy explains to me about the Cubs and the White Sox, but I still don't get it sometimes, especially when they are in separate leagues.

I guess that makes me a sports idiot but what is wrong with wanting the Mets to do well if they make it to the World Series and you are from New York and a Yankees fan and vice versa (assuming your team is not involved)?

If Ft. Worth ever gets a team, I guess I'll have to choose. :D
