    How did I forget Midlake...?

Add that to the contenders...
I was amazed that it took until the 4th page for Midlake to be mentioned. Such a beautifully hypnotic album.

Ha ha, I hadn't even noticed that! :D

I got the hold of the new Endless Boogie and Eels albums today too. On first listen "Tomorrow Morning" isn't quite as good as "End Times" but it's still a very good record. Endless Boogie's new one is really, really dirty (in a very good way!)

I think id have to go for Brandon Boyd- The Wild Trapeze.Closely followed by Far and She & Him.
By far the biggest disappointment is Stone Temple Pilots.

for me right now, it's neck and neck between:

land of talk - cloak and cipher
    black keys - brothers
i'm more a fan of popular bands.. like the bee-gees, pearl jam

True indeed, a mate bought it and saved me wasting my money on it. I thought the first two were ok but Welcome To Discovery Park was a duffer too!!
I'd have to say Isobel Campbell/Mark Lanegan or The Dead Weather for this year.

I agree. I listened to a few tracks off the new album and wasn't impressed. Welcome to Discovery Park has a couple good songs but was overall too slow. Shame is by far their best.

    The Suburbs - Arcade Fire
    Teen Dream - Beach House
    Go - Jonsi
Hawk - Isobel Campbell and Mark Lanegan

it's been a pretty slow year for Rock/heavy metal though :(
