Can't say the same about Kid A, but I agree with Brothers being album of the year so far.

My runner up is The Roots "How I got Over"

That's a tough one. I haven't been completely floored yet by any album in 2010 (2009 was a pleasant surprise though). My favorite of 2010 have been:

    Gaslight Anthem- "American Slang"
    Against Me- "White Crosses"
"All I Ever Knew" available now in print and digital formats at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and iBooks.

    Arcade Fire- The Suburbs

Followed closely by The National's High Violet.
It makes much more sense to live in the present tense.

Four posts before someone said Arcade Fire...

2009 was a killer year. I haven't been as impressed in 2010 but I'm gonna go with

Further - The Chemical Brothers - a return to something resembling their earlier work. Dropping the guest rapper vocalists helped this record a great deal. Swoon is one their best songs in years.

This Is Happening - LCD Soundsystem - Probably not everyone's cup of tea. Most songs average 7 minutes. Check out I Can Change and Home. Some of the best stuff he's done.

Good 'ol Rock & Roll for me. Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers - Mojo
  • The National - High Violet by some distance.

The Suburbs is good, but not great. I feel it lacks the really epic tracks of previous albums (Intervention, Tunnels #1, Wake Up, Windowsill etc.). High Violet is just amazing from start to finish.
It's gonna be a glorious day...

I guess Brothers....It's been growin on me lately, but I just don't see it bein an all time favorite of mine or anything. Been a down year so far.

STP's S/T has mostly good stuff, mixed with a couple real clunkers.

  • I've LIKED several albums so far this year, but nothing has really really made me sit back and say WOW!

My favorites so far would have to be
    Drive-by Truckers..The Big To-Do
    Gaslight Anthhem...American Slang
and probably my favorite so far is
    Grace Potter and the Nocturnals....S/T

Uhoh...I forgot MOJO...it has to be up there too. Great album. It might be a tie between it and GP&N
All I have to do is revel in the everyday....then do it again tomorrow

They say every sin is deadly but I believe they may be wrong...I'm guilty of all seven and I don't feel too bad at all
  • 1The Suburbs - Arcade Fire
    2Brothers - Black Keys
    3Shame, Shame - Dr Dog

Those are my rankings on August 16th
