It's top notch. Really well done from the packaging, to the contents, the presentation, and, especially the sound. If anyone is on the fence about picking one up, it's a wee bit expensive, but IMHO quite worth it. Less than 1,200 are remaining.0 -
Anyone bought vinyl copies of Dick's Picks thru Brookvale Records? If so, whaddya think?0

I am probably as big a Grateful Dead fan as everybody else who has posted here but am I the only one that wasn't big on the 80's & 90's Dead sound (especially live)? Everything just became too cute sounding (tinkling keyboards...thanks Brent  ). 60's and 70's Dead was up there for best band of all time in my opinion. Obviously they'd be #2 behind PJ but I absolutely love so many of their songs from those 2 decades. American Beauty is still one of my favorite albums by any band of any era. Workingman's is up there too. Wake of the Flood is underrated also. I could go on and on. I've heard so many live shows that I feel like I've seen them live but unfortunately never did.
Someone earlier also posted that PJ picked up where the Dead left off and I do agree a lot with that. I also think there are some other good "jam" bands out there worth seeing multiple nights in a row. Widespread Panic comes to mind. They never play a song within 3 shows of itself. You will see 0 repeat songs in a three show run. Nobody else is doing that...not even PJ. Their choice of cover songs is, in my opinion, the best of any band out there. Highly recommend checking them out if they come to your neck of the woods. They have countless bootlegs out there too. panicstream.com is a great site."Not only do you have sunshine but you have better thunder...fuckers." -Ed, Phx 10/21/00
