Jerry Garcia's guitar / Grateful Dead

I told althea I was feeling lost, lacking in some direction.
Althea told me upon scrutiny that my back might need protection.
I told althea that treachery was tearing me limb from limb.
Althea told me better cool down boy, settle back, easy jim.
You may be saturdays child, all alone, moving with a tinge of grace.
You may be a clown in the burying ground, or just another pretty face.
You may meet the fate on ophelia, sleeping and penchence to dream.
Honest to the point of recklessness, self-centered in the extreme.
Aint nobody messing with you, but you, your friends are getting most concerned.
Loose with the truth, baby, its your fire, but baby dont get burned.
When the smoke has cleared, she said, thats what she said to me.
Gonna want a bed to lay your head and a little sympathy.
There are things you can replace, and others you cannot.
The time has come to weigh those things.
This space is getting hot, you know this space is getting hot.
I told althea Im a roving son, and I was born to be a bachelor.
Althea told me, okay, thats fine, so now Im trying to catch her.
Cant talk to you without talking to me, were guilty of the same old thing.
Been talking alot about less and less and forgetting the love we bring.

Gotta get to twirling now
Thanks guys
And the music never stopped
Thing is, I lived by Jerry's tune for decades, and can hear a snippet of bygone days and recall every single nuance like it was happening all over again right this moment....
Shake it, shake it Sugaree, just don't tell 'em that you know me
one of my personal favs :
if my words did glow with the gold of sunshine
and my tunes were played on the harp unstrung
would you hear my voice come thru the music
would you hold it near as it were your own?
it's a hand me down ... the thoughts are broken
perhaps they're better left unsung
i don't know ... don't really care
let there be songs to fill the air
ripple in still water
when there is no pebble tossed
nor wind to blow
reach out your hand if your cup be empty
if your cup is full may it be again
let it be known there is a fountain
that was not made by the hands of men
there is a road ... no simple highway
between the dawn and the dark of night
and if you go .. no one may follow
that path is for your steps alone
ripple in still water
when there is no pebble tossed
nor wind to blow
you who choose to lead must follow
but if you fall you fall alone
if you should stand then who's to guide you?
if I knew the way I would take you home
la da dee dee da...la dee de da da
la dee dee dah la da dee de da
la dee dee da la dee de dah dah
la dee dee dahhhhh lahhh daaahh dee dee dahhh
still dancing ... thank you Jerry, RIPpeace,
jo

Saw the Mickey Hart Band last night. Great show, he always surrounds himself with strong musicians. Dave Schools (of Widespread Panic) on Bass, plus a killer guitar player and various other strong musicians/vocalists. Much more of a rock show than his planet drum shows, which are more on straight drumming.
Time Never Ends might have been the best jam of the night, but the highlight was Bill Walton coming out and drumming on Fire on the Mountain and Not Fade Away. I've seen Bill at every dead related show that comes through San Diego, but this is the first time I've seen him get up on stage.
Setlist:
Set 1
Aiko Aiko
Let There Be Light
Starlight
The Other One
Peaceful Time
Time Never Ends
Set 2
Jam
Slow Jo Rain
Cut The Deck
Brokedown Palace
Supersonic (no, not PJ's supersonic)
Who Stole the Show?
Fire on the Mountain
Encore: Not Fade Away
If you get a chance, catch this tour. Good stuff.

Was it 2009 or 2010 he toured with Steve Kimock in his band? Those were some exceptional shows, only heard them by the magic of taping as I'm in the UK. Do wish Mickey, Bill, Phil and Bob would reunite again, definitely travel over next time. The secret to a happy ending is knowing when to roll the credits0 -

I think that was 2008 that he played w/ Kimock. Didn't catch that tour though. I did see him in late 2008 w/ his Global Drum Project, but that was all percussion.
Here's some vids of Mondays show that got posted (not mine):

I'm on the fence about another full reunion. The last one seemed like such a cash grab."You're no help," he told the lime. This was unfair. It was only a lime; there was nothing special about it at all. It was doing the best it could.

Furthur west coast tour announced! First time this incarnation is coming to San Diego. Phil hasn't been down here for a long time, I'm thinking the last time was the initial Dead reunion tour in '03."You're no help," he told the lime. This was unfair. It was only a lime; there was nothing special about it at all. It was doing the best it could.

That must have been something -- Bill Walton on drums (how'd he do?)0 -

He did OK, He's looking a little more stiff these days. Big grin on his face though."You're no help," he told the lime. This was unfair. It was only a lime; there was nothing special about it at all. It was doing the best it could.
