Why am I still watching? First 2 seasons were great, but it has progressively gone down the toilet. I haven't laughed once in 3 new season episodes. Terrible. Show is all about how many celeb cameos they can stuff into an episode.

the guy from boiler room isn't helping. he's making a run to replace Llyod as worst TV show character of all time.

I found seasons 4 and 6 to be pretty bad. The rest I liked.
Call me crazy, but Lloyd makes me laugh. However, Ari Gold might be the best character I've ever seen on a TV show.

last season was atrocious. i think they've rebounded really well thus far though. some good story lines:
drama's always funny when his career is in the toilet...them writing a sitcom for him that basically makes fun of him is hilarious. and now they throw in uncle jesse as his co star..that funny stuff.

turtle's situation is much more believable...though i'm not sure where they're headed next week. smuggling illegals into the country? weird. how many former sopranos actresses can he go through though?

ari and that chick...i like the dynamic there.

and the whole vince, e, dude from boiler room triangle is alright. i hate that dude's character...but that's a sign that he's playing it well.

    lloyd still sucks.

all in all, this is their best season in a few years. still early though.

I thought season 5 was the low point of the show. Last season was pretty bad too, but I liked the last few episodes leading into this season. Overall. this season has started pretty well. I like the directions they're taking the main 4. They're kinda changing their paths, but still staying true to the characters' roots. And it's about time Vince started acting like a crazy movie star considering all the successful films he's supposedly done (that they barely talk about).

Ari has always been my favorite, but something just isn't working for him right now, imo. This whole "most powerful man in hollywood" thing is annoying, and not always believable. And that Lizzy girl quitting was kinda stupid. She works for the biggest talent agency in Hollywood, and has a great working relationship with the boss, but is willing to quit on a whim b/c he refuses to make her head of a department. All this after she was lucky to even keep her job b/c she slept with her superior. I dunno, just seemed a little off.

she's a chick. she made an irrational, emotional decision without putting too much thought into. sounds about right to me.
    HEY. OH.

kinda agree on the ari thing though, now that you mention it. it is kind of annoying. and him all of sudden possibly being able to own an nfl franchise....are we to believe he's worth 100's of millions of dollars? i dunno man...

I've never watched a single episode. To me it's Sex in the City for men. I'd rather watch a ball game.

pretty sure most of us who like the show would choose a game over it any day of the week too. .......but the point is, yeah, you never, ever have to make that choice anymore.

oh young jeagler, so naive...ari gold is based on a real life agent who recently combined 2 of the largest talent agencies and is now one of the most powerful and wealthy persons in hollywood...and ari wouldn't own the team outright but would put together investors to own the team

as for this season, i'm liking it...i'm not sure what you all expect out of the show...all the vince plotlines are based on real life actors/incidents...same with drama (more or less)...yes, the e story line is boring but that's what it's supposed to be...and i like what they're doing with turtle's storyline

    yeah i know all that.

in the show, though, he's only been this super agent for just a few months...just seems like things are progressing pretty, pretty quickly for him to still be believable. but, i hear ya.

he already was a super agent...the merger gave him all the power to do pretty much what ever he wants...and in the world of the show, the nfl wants to put a team in la and ari is the guy with the best chance at making that happen

Ari Emanuel went to my high school way back in the day. Just throwin that out there.

I'm liking this season so far as well, especially with the main crew. Only thing is, I'm just having a little trouble believing Ari's story, regardless of what its based on. I feel like the writers know that too, thus why he's said "I'm the most powerful man in Hollywood" in every episode.

the real life ari's brother can go straight to hell

do you watch weeds? turtle's storyline looks like it might resemble nancy botwin's slightly...interested in seeing what happens with him next week.

    Haha, can't argue with that.

I watched Weeds up through season 4, so I see what you're sayin. Fell outta touch with it after I moved and didn't get Showtime, so I don't know the complete story of Nance and the mexican cartel. It was clear since the first ep this season that that chick was gonna be major trouble for Turtle. Definitely interested in what's gonna happen next.

I used to think the show was funny. I know it's not going to win any awards for the plots or storylines. I watch it because I expect it to be funny...and maybe I'll see a hot pair of cans every now and then.

The show isn't funny anymore. And they are showing less hooters than ever. The show has sucked for a couple of years, but this season has made the show virtually unwatchable for me.

Hung sucks too. that show had potential, but it has gone nowhere. HBO needs to pick it up. Anyone watch Treme? Haven't seen that yet, but I am probably gonna start checking it out on demand

Eh, Entourage just doesn't do it for me anymore.
Vinny has just turned into a huge douche.
It's not funny anymore and just seems like one big cameo fest.

    definitely a big cameo fest.
things that i dislike about the show currently...
    1. ari is the biggest thing in hollywood. he is going to own an nfl franchise now????
    2. E is becoming a heavy hitter in hollywood. what a joke. something about e always rubbed me the wrong way...maybe it is because kevin connelly has ALWAYS gotten on my nerves...
    3. drama is still a joke...his schtick is wearing on me too...he can't get a break and at this point i kind of hope he doesn't....
    4. what is turtle doing? he had a driving business and somehow accumulated these pimp ass cars between last season and this season...the show never even explains where he got all of the money he has now...i liked him better when he was the lazy stoner driver from a couple of seasons ago.

it seems to me the writers are running out of ideas and i have a feeling the show will jump the shark this season, if it has not yet already....

    i'm with you on 1 and 2....

drama will always be a joke. i think its funny that he's projected to be the butt of the joke in this sitcom with john stamos.

the last episode said vince lent him the money to get his business off the ground. actually, beansy from the sopranos said so  ....i liked him better before too, but his character has to evolve somehow right? i'm interested to see what the deal is with this mexican cartel next week.

I actually still really like the show. I look at it as pure Hollywood bullshit. there is no point in the story as what you are watching is a 9 week view of a hollywood star's life.

That's exactly the way I look at it. I'm not looking for anything groundbreaking here. It keeps me entertained...Ari is always hilarious and there are tons of hot chicks on every episode. That gets the job done for me...

I have to agree that the show has lost its way. I used to be a big fan and still watch every week but I think the show has about run its course for me. I was never a big fan of Vinnie but this season he's become downright annoying. His new buddy is annoying. E getting married is annoying. Drama still not finding a decent job is annoying. But there are still plenty of hot semi naked chicks so I guess it's not all bad.

last night's show was fantastic. i don't really see how one can say otherwise.

the story lines this season are the best they've been in years. really looking forward to see how ari deals with the pending lawsuit.

    vince as a crazy alcoholic/dating a porn star--gold jerry.

the story lines are becoming a bit unbelievable as a few have mentioned. Ari trying to get an NFL team and Turtle not being a complete wastoid. i don't know - i still watch because for the most part tv sucks bad anyway but there isn't much here that interesting anymore. too much serious stuff happenening and not enough drunken escapades. show started more of the premise of the fun and wild side of being a star and in a star's circle - now its like watching a soap opera. and i will continue to be disappointed until Ari's wife and Sloane are naked in this show - at least one of them at some point but preferably both of them (and naked together would vault this show into new levels of greatness, but i digress...).

yes i did - vince's plot last night was great - the others not so much. I look forward to how they take vince's character forward with that plot line. the ari character and story is getting over the top and changes dramatically every season - it is getting ridiculous with the dramtic highs and lows of his character and business. the problem as i see it is it has become a drama series instead of a comedy - where are the funny parts? even Ari's character isn't funny anymore

to me its always been kind of a dramedy--not just a comedy. i've always wanted the show to be an hour long...
i agree somewhat on ari, but as norm points out, his character is based upon a real life agent (rahm emanual's brother) who has experienced a lot of the same stuff.

and the turtle storyline i think is great. he got a bunch of cash from vince to start that car service and failed miserably. then he stumbles upon this tequila idea and needs vince for that too. he's the ultimate mooch. i am sure there are tons and tons of turtles in hollywood right now.

the drama storyline is great. come on. john stamos and bob saget basically screwing him out of a sitcom that would have made him the butt of jokes anyway? that is gold.

eric's storyline is more low key. but the dude's getting married. that's the point.

billy comes back next week. so that should be fun. people get too caught up talking about a show's bad points when its been around this long. it will probably never be as good as it was 6 years ago. but its still better than 90% of the shit thats on tv. and is much better than last year imo.

I stopped watching this last season. It's the same thing all the time. I can't believe it's been on as long as it has.
