Wow. You really don't anything about baseball outside of blindly rooting for the Yankees do you? They will be the instant favorites to take that division.

I know you're a Cowboys fan, so you won't get this much for me, but....congrats. I wanna see that team do well for a change, and this is a nice move. Solid lineup, nice back-end of a pen, and a decent rotation. Get your playoff invoices now. Your only competition will be the Angels and I don't see them keeping up all year.

Dallas radio saying the deal is for Smoak and three minor leaguers. May not be Holland.

Mariners pick up 2.5 million of Lee's salary.

Thanks. I've always loved the Rangers and they have been so hapless. Looks like things are finally coming together. This is the best roster they have ever had and they have great chemistry.

beat me to it. they have a really good team. their rotation needed an upgrade...getting lee should suffice.

If I were you I'd be hoping martin perez isn't included. he's the best LH pitching prospect in the minors

Yeah, remind me a lot of the Phils the past few years - build within, add a few solid pieces, great chemistry that exudes a swagger.

Is Feliz going to be a starter down the line? Or are they going to keep him as their closer for the foreseeable future?

They wanted Feliz to be a starter but Frankie Francisco struggled at closer. I think Feliz stays at closer.

Perez hasn't been named in the deal as far as I can see.

    Hate posting from a phone.

4:31pm: The Mariners also get right-hander Josh Lueke and second baseman Matthew Lawson, according to Jon Paul Morosi of FOX Sports (via Twitter). Multiple other reports confirm that the Mariners obtain Lueke, Lawson, Beavan and Smoak for Lowe, Lee and cash.

4:20pm: The Mariners will acquire two pitchers and a position player, plus Smoak, according to Jon Paul Morosi of FOX Sports (via Twitter). MLB.com's T.R. Sullivan says 21-year-old righty Blake Beavan is also in the trade (Twitter link). Baseball America ranked the 2007 first rounder 17th among Rangers prospects before the season.

Prediction for 2011 on where Cliff Lee goes: Detroit Tigers. Book it.
  • don't ee how they look like chumps. they keep a guy a scout referred to today as "Edgar Martinez with power". Its not like adding a 6th starter was a glaring need

Dodgers too busy spending their money on mental telepathy, and the Mets'll fuck it up of course. Detroit has a TON of money coming off the books. I think they make the biggest of splashes. Bigger than the Yankees.
