Here's a pretty cool clip with the three of them working on a old times Americana tribute album.

Sad news. Don't know much about Stan other than he helped give the world two incredible musicians. Saw the boys play in Birmingham last night. My hat is off to them for playing the day after their father died. I can't imagine being able to pull that off. I was curious to see if they might eulogize him in some way but as far as I could tell it didn't happen. Chris sang one chorus of Wiser Time, "...and on a bad day, I know it ain't every day." I'm so used to Ed who seems to lay his heart out on the stage. In an odd way which is hard to explain I wanted to grieve w/ them. Lift them up and support them as a group of fans. Perhaps we did just by being there. Roses were throw by a few onto the stage immediately after the show concluded. I suppose the Robinson bros heal, amongst other ways, thru their music. Don't we all? My prayers go out to the Robinson family for their loss.

Sad to hear their father passed. I lost mine at 15 so I know the feeling. Hopefully the music helps heal.

Glad you liked it! I got to see them for the first three times this year and was blown away each time. I LOVED those shows! The music, the vibe, the energy...they deliver.

As for a bootleg keep your eye on this page. They release boots similar to how PJ does. Not every show I guess but most every show.

EDIT: Looks like the Interlocken shows are already up!

do they ever give a reason why they don't release some shows? I have been waiting for them to release the Winnipeg show from May 2006, but they never did. I have a semi-decent audience recording of it, but I'd love a mixed and mastered copy.

I have never heard an official reason but really only started following them closely recently. My guess is that the jam band nature of their performances means they aren't all created equal and they are susceptible to having an off night. But that is just a guess.

I'm guessing it probably has more to do potential dvd/official packing release in the future, not bad performance, or recording equipment malfunctiong.

Vinyl reissues of the first 4 albums.
  • Went to the show in Milwaukee on Friday and loved it. The band was on fire, and it's amazing to me how some singer's voices just don't stand the test of time, but Chris's vocals are still as soulful as ever. The Crowes are still one of the best rock 'n roll bands in the world.

That being said, according to wikipedia the band has been active since 1989. I believe you have to be together for 25 years to be considered for the R 'n R Hall of Fame. I think it's a little fucked up that they aren't on the ballot for 2014. I've always felt The Crowes were under appreciated by most, and I know the HOF has become kind of a joke lately, but The Black Crowes should be a lock to be in there someday, right?

    Milwaukee Setlist:

    Soul Singing
    Sting Me
    Twice as Hard
    Evergreen
    Good Friday
    Mellow Down Easy
    (Little Walter cover)
    What Is Home
    (Only) Halfway to Everywhere
    Title Song
    Wiser Time
    Thorn in My Pride
    She Talks to Angels
    Remedy
    Hard to Handle
    (Otis Redding cover)
    Hush
(Billy Joe Royal cover) (with "Hard to Handle" reprise)
    Encore:
    Don't Do It
    (Marvin Gaye cover)
    Boomer's Story
    (Ry Cooder cover)

I think technically it would be 2015 before they could be on the ballot, since SYMM came out in 1990. Having said that, I'm doubtful they'll make the cut. Great band with hardly a bum song in their catalog let alone bum album, but they were only huge for a short time and have fallen in popularity as far as any band I can think of. Lack of influence and not much originality are other knocks, and similar to ones you could level at PJ, but the big difference is PJ has remained an arena level band for the entire run.

    Good Friday

my two favorite songs...played back to back!
Beavis: All my friends are brown and red? What does that mean?
Butthead: It means that his friends are like turds and that they like suck.
Beavis: Heh heh. Oh yeah. Yeah! Get those spoons out of my face before I shove them up your butt!
    Butthead: Huh huh.
  • I've seen them about 5 times over many years, and the Telluride show absolutely blew me away. One of the top 5 shows I've seen from any band. Anyone know how I can get a recording of this? Their site hasn't released the show and I'm not sure why. Maybe because it was a festival show. Regardless, I need help finding a recording if anyone knows. Thanks.

The only story I have heard has to do with either the venue not allowing them to record or somehow or another the recording gets screwed up or something. I know there was a Dallas show I went to that was not released because the source was destroyed because of an equipment failure or something.

Does anyone have a copy of the Ryman Shows from 4/20-4/21? They weren't released and I've been dying to hear them. Oh yeah torrenting is out of my reach right now (having net issues).
Also, I have a shit-ton of BC show I could trade if anyone were willing to help out. Thanks.
