If there ever was anything to persuade me against going to PJ20 it would be BC in Amsterdam. One of my favourite bands in my favourite city. Will just have to try and do both and if I can't maybe I'll squeeze Manchester in cos PJ20 is top for this year... ;)
Like a book among the many on a shelf...

    Dublin 02 Arena - 22/6/10. Belfast Odyssey Arena - 23/6/10. London Hyde Park - 25/6/10. Berlin Wuhlheide - 30/6/10.
    Manchester MEN - 20/06/12. Manchester MEN - 21/06/12

I dare say that "Oh, Josephine" has one of the greatest live keyboard jams ever... 8-)

    Sho 'nuff!

Amazing tune...The keys on the album are epic enough. I love how it gets quiet then Rich breaks into that climbing little pattern. The Crowes' bread and butta right there.

Yeah, the entire finale of that song is great. Adam is quite the key player, and he really shows it when you see this band live.

I thought it took awhile for him to fit. Seemed to be too old-timey for a couple tours and not rock keyboardy enough. The studio material he's played on and the relentless touring has done him a world of good. I've heard some really awful keys from him on their older stuff.

They didn't play that tune when I saw them on the 'Warpaint' tour. One of my favourite Black Crowes tunes ever.
Believe me, when I was growin up, I thought the worst thing you could turn out to be was normal, So I say freaks in the most complementary way. Here's a song by a fellow freak - E.V

When I first heard Oh Josephine back in 2008 I though it was easily the best song they had done in over 10 years. Since Three Snakes anyway. And it sounds great live. Listen to it on Warpaint Live - wow.

On Adam, I didn't like him at first either. I just missed Ed. And I didn't like his sound back in 2007-2008. I spent too much time thinking "This guy isn't as good as Ed therefore he sucks." But Adam has gotten much better over the years. His work on BTF/UTF is really good, but he is fantastic on Croweology. Just listen to the new My Morning Song. He couldn't have pulled that off a few years ago I don't think. On this last tour it felt like he really belonged.

Got my tickets for the Tuesday night in London this coming July - brilliant sized venue too - should be a great night! I am sooooo pleased they didn't call it a day before coming over to Europe!

Anyone else get tickets to any of these shows?

I bought tickets for the Wednesday in London yesterday, somehow putting myself under the assumption that I would easily pick up some Tuesday tickets today and make a week of it down in London... I see now that it sold out far quicker than I imagined it would!

At least I'm going to one of the nights I suppose, I don't REALLY need to see them 2 nights in a row, but it would have been nice... :D

I will agree in the sense that I think he fits in to their whole vibe a lot better now than he did back in 2008.

Off the tope of my head, I think he really shines on the following songs:

    My Morning Song
    Wiser Time
    Seeing Things
    Greenhorn

Yeah, I think the rootsier they get the better he's gonna fit. Thats a big part of the reason he sounds so good on BTF/UTF and Croweology. And of course the more he plays the old stuff he's gonna get fewer and fewer dirty looks from Rich.

Same kinda goes for Luther too. He just doesn't have that over the top crunchy rock lead sound. On something like A Conspiracy or No Speak No Slave where that lead kinda comes in tears through Rich's rhythm while augmenting it, it just doesn't cut.

Not trying to tear the guys down. When I seen them in August it was hand's down the best Crowes' show I've seen and they always do it up right for St Lou. Hell yeah, I'd love to see them with MF and Ed again, but what they're doin now seems to really fit and I'd hate for them to do somethin they're not totally into.

    Speaking of Oh, Josephine

Maybe my favorite bridge in any song:

For awhile I was dealing in tears and powder
For a spell I was strung out beyond my means
I lost that love, while climbing down the ladder
Just searching for the song to set me free

  • Got the new NMA cd yesterday but didn't really get to listen. I'm thinking luther's time with the crowes elevates his game and makes this one great.
Anyone hearing anything about a possible DVD/CD set from the crowes documenting the tour? Surely they do something! Right? God I hope

I love belting out those lines when singing along to that song.

Just rumors of a DVD. I wouldn't be surprised if they did release one though. I didn't notice any cameras at the shows I went to though, just the recording equipment.

I've just heard of rumours of a box-set recording of the 5 night NYC run.
