I thought it took awhile for him to fit. Seemed to be too old-timey for a couple tours and not rock keyboardy enough. The studio material he's played on and the relentless touring has done him a world of good. I've heard some really awful keys from him on their older stuff.
I will agree in the sense that I think he fits in to their whole vibe a lot better now than he did back in 2008.
Yeah, I think the rootsier they get the better he's gonna fit. Thats a big part of the reason he sounds so good on BTF/UTF and Croweology. And of course the more he plays the old stuff he's gonna get fewer and fewer dirty looks from Rich.
Same kinda goes for Luther too. He just doesn't have that over the top crunchy rock lead sound. On something like A Conspiracy or No Speak No Slave where that lead kinda comes in tears through Rich's rhythm while augmenting it, it just doesn't cut.
Not trying to tear the guys down. When I seen them in August it was hand's down the best Crowes' show I've seen and they always do it up right for St Lou. Hell yeah, I'd love to see them with MF and Ed again, but what they're doin now seems to really fit and I'd hate for them to do somethin they're not totally into.

Got the new NMA cd yesterday but didn't really get to listen. I'm thinking luther's time with the crowes elevates his game and makes this one great.
Anyone hearing anything about a possible DVD/CD set from the crowes documenting the tour? Surely they do something! Right? God I hope
All I have to do is revel in the everyday....then do it again tomorrow
They say every sin is deadly but I believe they may be wrong...I'm guilty of all seven and I don't feel too bad at all
For awhile I was dealing in tears and powder
For a spell I was strung out beyond my means
I lost that love, while climbing down the ladder
Just searching for the song to set me free
I love belting out those lines when singing along to that song.

Just rumors of a DVD. I wouldn't be surprised if they did release one though. I didn't notice any cameras at the shows I went to though, just the recording equipment.

Holy shit. One of my favourite crowes tunes, but that was one of the greatest things I've ever seen.
Believe me, when I was growin up, I thought the worst thing you could turn out to be was normal, So I say freaks in the most complementary way. Here's a song by a fellow freak - E.V

Been listening to this nonstop...really really good to me but I'm a huge fan. In spots it does seems like luther was inspired by his work with the crowes a bit....I think this is hands down their best since there first one.
There's a great one with Mavis Staples on it...good stuff. There's a lot of gospelly stuff here too.

I swear I listened to a NMA album once and it was just music no vocals... does that sound possible? I don't know which one. I still liked it though. Does the new one have vocals? Luther might be my favorite guitar player right now.

oh yeah it's got vocals....can't think of one that doesn't except maybe an album they did as The Word with Robert Randolph and John Medeski....all instrumental, "sacred steel" stuff
I'm not aware of an instrumental NMA album
Bad ass! In fact, clicking around in youtube just now I listened to seveal studio b-sides and covers I'd never heard before. Is tracking down the singles on ebay or something the best way to get these? Are they available on I-tunes (p.s. I have never used I-tunes). I just want them on a CD so I can listen whenever I want.
Thanks for sharing.

There are a few I have heard before like It Must Be Over and Things a Pretty Girl Make You Do and Spider in the Sugar Bowl Blues.
But for some reason I haven't heard this one before now.
I looked on a couple of Black Crowes boards and most people say either ebay or torrent is the best way, or PM-ing someone from those boards. I don't torrent anymore. A lot of these b-sides were only released abroad.
