I work in nuclear power and what I do protects the public. You don't want me smoking weed. Plus I quit anyway when I decided I didn't want to be the fry guy for the rest of life back in high school.

Never underestimate the power of thought on pot, there is not necessarily a question of "fry" as you put it. You generalize here, in a derogatory way too I might add. This done often enough closes the mind.

I smoke regularly and I am entering my 2nd year of a PhD program. I'm not sure what you meant by "fry guy", either the guy who asks "do you want fries with that" the image of a burnout, but I see nothing wrong with smoking as long as you are responsible enough to handle it. It is clear that many in our society are not responsible enough to enjoy the luxury of alcohol being legal, so again it rests on the individual.

+1 Pandora. I smoke, don't care if I have it or if I don't (as in I prefer to only smoke in the evening, like people like to have a drink after work/dinner). I was so shy, quiet, and nervous as a kid. I didn't smoke till I was in college, it opened my eyes, I became relaxed, social and more carefree...Pearl Jam 's music became so much more enlightening, I really thought about the words/meaning.
Hub and I quit for 6 months, and I performed worse at work (I never went to work under the influence). Then I got laid off...so can I say i got let go for being fully sober?

i replaced it with alcohol, which has been pretty much a disaster.

Hub drank MORE when he quit smoking, I don't drink. He didn't accomplish more, he just sat there watching TV wishing he had some to smoke. After I got laid off I started smoking again, hub already started again (I made it 3 months longer). Generally, I am not that lazy, so it doesn't affect me in that sense. Since I've been looking for a job I have found that jobs working with the government/military, they DON'T do drug testing and restaurant and retail jobs DO test for drugs...go figure!
