    Troll (Internet)
    From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In Internet slang, a troll is someone who posts inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, chat room, or blog, with the primary intent of provoking other users into a desired emotional response[1] or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.[2] In addition to the offending poster, the noun “troll” can also refer to the provocative message itself, as in that was an excellent troll you posted. While the term troll and its associated action, trolling, are primarily associated with Internet discourse, media attention in recent years has made such labels highly subjective, with 'trolling' being used to describe many intentionally provocative actions outside of an online context.
    Contents

    Process

As described by Robert Bond in The International Review of Law, Computers & Technology, trolls usually exhibit a typical pattern of behavior:

In ‘The Art of Trolling’ published on the web it is suggested that ‘in Usenet usage, a “troll” is not a grumpy monster that lives beneath a bridge accosting passers by, but rather a provocative posting to a news group intended to produce a large volume of frivolous responses. The content of a “troll” posting generally falls into several areas. It may consist of an apparently foolish contradiction or common knowledge, a deliberately offensive insult to the readers of the news group or a broad request for trivial follow-up postings.[3]

I had no idea that that Canadian rock critic who wrote about Nickelback recently was Fanch75! We are in the presence of greatness.

I cannot completely agree with your essay, though. I personally am getting a strong Bob Seger vibe from that cover art. 8-)

The original post was totally positive and not critical at all. I love YIELD; the song GIVE TO FLY is in my "Holy Trilogy" if you will of my three favorite songs ever (which hasn't changed since, oh, about February 1998 when a certain song was added). Yet, a few choose to be critical. I can go 3 months without posting anything, and I can always count on Ledbetterman10 to be negative in a Fanch thread.

I think it's because I'm one of PJ's few (as in like 13) black fans. Earlier in the thread, we saw Mr. PJ Gestapo Guy. Well, we all know how the Gestapo felt about black people. So what do you want me to do? Get on the table and dance? Shine your shoes? Smiiiiile at ya? Maybe PJ brothers like me should just shut up and and listen to Jay-Z or whoever we're pigeon-holed into listening to.

Because your threads are lame. I have no problem with them by any means, but I have to comment on the fans you have around here. It's like when the movie Wedding Crashers came out. I thought it sucked (and still do) but EVERYBODY else though it was freakin' hilarious. I gotta file your comedy in with Wedding Crashers under "stuff that is not for me."

Now this part of your post is outrageous. Fucking reverse-racism bullshit. I have no way of knowing your race and yet you assume that's why I give you shit in your threads. I cannot stress enough...for the record: I give you shit in your threads because I think they're lame and it irks me to see so many people think they're funny when they're not. Call me a dick or accuse me of having no sense of humor or whatever but don't go calling me a racist because I don't think your Natty Light Nickelback Riot Act shit is funny.

Umm, yeah, I don't consider myself a newbie around here, & I didn't know Fanch was black. I thought this thread was a riot until it got derailed into some sorta race defense, wtf?! I don't know anything about the relationship between u guys, & I'm only scantily familiar with Fanch's humor/threads... but wow, this is even more ridiculous than the Nickelback/PJ comparison!

Nickelback Sucks, but this thread is funny as hell...

With all due respect, bringing up race here is ...well....insane. Kind of like the topic of this thread...

What up aNiMaL? I had a great Father's Day, thanks. It was my second one and it was a great day. I hope you are having a good summer and are listening to a ton of YIELD (and therefore "All The Right Reasons" as well, of course).

    Fanch, your review is fascinating.

I've been compiling a list of reasons why Chad Kroeger is the finest and most profound lyricist of the modern age, but I've been too fearful to post it. Your bold comparison of these two albums may be just the push I needed.

I mean with a song title like "Feelin' Way Too Damn Good", how can one's genius be questioned?

Or lyrics like "I like your pants around your feet, I like the dirt thats on your knees" Chad Kroeger is a lyrical genius.

I'll second the lyrical genius thing-

    "Look at this photograph
Everytime I do it makes me laugh
How did our eyes get so red
And what the hell is on Joey's head"

"Kim's the first girl I kissed
I was so nervous that I nearly missed
She's had a couple of kids since then
I haven't seen her since god knows when"

nicklebacks songs sound like they come off of an assembly line, there is no difference between any of their songs they all sound the same just like Creed. i am sorry to say that i also have seen nickleback in concert (i was a dumb high school kid) and even in high school Chad came off lame and corny. If i could wish any two bands out of existance it would be nickleback and creed.
