That's what I've been thinking. Honestly, I'll take the punch to the face over being tazed or maced any time. Getting punched usually just wakes you up a bit. The other two will fuckin' make your day pretty goddamn miserable.

That's a childish comment....We are talking about this specific situation.... If a woman is attacking an officer ,punching as you state the officer should defend himself...not sit there and take it.... stop slowing down the conversation.....
Push them down to the ground ...wrestle them down.... mace them... club them... ..slap some cuffs on them... back up... No need to know someone out with a punch to the face....

I've been around areas where Mace has been used....and it is powerful and effective.... If the officer had maced the girls (based on what we see) he wouldn't be under such attacks or we wouldn't be as critical of him.... but he didn't act professionally ... that's why so many people are upset...
I agree these girls (base on the video info) acted stupid...and deserved to be maced....let the courts deal with this..... ONly problem is that now the officer is putting his department in a bad position by using his fist .... Next time think!

now if i'm a police officer and am by myself and have 2 people assaulting me, i will do what it takes to defend myself and control the situation

i'd post comments from police officers that were in a similar situation but they're dead

Wait! What does that have to do with this situation? How was this officer protecting his life? Because he punched a teenage girl in the face? We are talking about this situation...different situations call for different reactions...

It's clear he wasn't watching his back ..... in one part there is a guy directly behind him...that guy could have easily attacked the officer..... This officer wasn't smart about the situation ...he was clearly out numbered...

the specific issue is that he acted unprofessionally ... punching a girl didn't do squat, other then create a national debate... the girls were still out of control....
I'm sure when he looks back at this he could think of a few ways of handling this differently.

How did he control the situation? Remember this is a professional... He punched a teenage girl, who obviously wasn't a threat to him, because he continued to go back and forth with the girls.... If they had been a threat he would have retreated to a more neutral position....Instead of trying to bum rush the two of them.... Plus all the people around him could have easily been perceived as suspects....
The girls weren't assaulting him... they were more like removing the officers hands from them.... Did they ever punch him? Did they bring out an object?
You train for these types of things ....act professionally, represent the community,.... take control of the situation,...Show strength, ...and protect the community....

example: they're teenagers... teens who are out of control wrestling a police officer.
the one young gal that got popped is a big girl and she assaulted him with force while he already had his hands full with her dumbass friend.
this is purely disrespect to the police officer.
