  • Yeah, it's always pissed me off that people call this bathroom break. So when your favorite band is playing one of their greatest songs and one of the greatest guitar players of all time is absolutely shredding away on a solo, you decide it's a good time to take a leak! :x At least it improves my view of the stage.

    Totally agree.
  • My all time favorite PJ song. NEVER get tired of hearing it. Gets my heart beating so fast. Count me in :D

  • I'm in!

Even Flow is such an awesome song!! BIG love for it!

I still can't understand why people have it as their piss-break song :wtf:
Been to this many PJ shows: Reading 2006 London 2007 Manchester & London 2009 Dublin, Belfast, London, Nijmegen & Berlin 2010 Manchester 1 & Manchester 2 2012...

... and I still think Drive-By Truckers are better.

Face melting mccready rules even flow. Took a first timer to 10/28/09 and I believe it was even flow and Mikes ridiculous solo that converted him. I can never understand why anyone would leave to take a piss break, thats what the encore break is for. In fact alive is starting to grow old on me. Its played every set and especially with the fist pumping yea yea chants at the end - its kind of gotten repetitive. Anyone feel the same?

Every time I hear the original version (it's one of the few songs from Ten where I don't like the Redux version) with the warm echoing chorus I go right back to first listening to the song.

First PJ song I'd ever heard and my reaction was something like 'holy crap! This is what I want to listen to all the time!'

I'm in. It may be played at every show, but there's a damn good reason. Without Even Flow, most of us wouldn't have fallen in love with this band in the first place. Great post.

During Even Flow, Ed notices a guy wearing a shirt saying “No Even Flow”, and starts a bit of an exchange with him, after the line “I can’t help when I’m happy, look insane.”, he yells “saw you too late, man”, then introduces Mike’s solo, “Once again, Mr. Mike McCready whether you like it or not”. After the song, Ed continues at the guy, “How’s that for Mr. Mike McCready on the right-hand guitar? He has to play that song or else he’ll fucking kill somebody. And I have a nominee, for ah… Mike, next time you don’t play that song, this guy right here, this guy.. he’s wearing a shirt that says “no even flow”, I suggest you kill him first. (rim shot) I know you can take him by yourself, but if you need help, I’ll help. You know the thing is sir, we take requests not orders, you should know better than that.”

I couldn't agree with you more. I took my 2 sons to Columbus 5/6/10 for their first-ever PJ show, and all the way from WI to OH they said, "I hope they play 'Even Flow' tonight." When the opening riff rang out, my 8 year-old promptly removed his shirt and said, "I'm gonna rock this hard, Dad."

Not to be outdone, at the end of the first set, my 10 year-old practices perfect concert etiquette by saying, "Ok Dad, now I really have to take a leak." We ran out, did our biz, and were back in our seats before the first encore break was over.

I made a mental note before the show to see if anyone was leaving during Even Flow, but I was too busy rocking with my boys...priceless moment!

That is 5 kinds of awesome.
    What a classy final line.
    Cheers.
