if Tiger never said majors are the only thing that matter, we wouldn't care about his game. He's number 1 and still wins big events. He's just 0 for 20 (or so) in majors since his last win. That's a season for most guys.

and federer won a tournament last year too ... in the end it's about the majors ... federer is making semis and tiger is top 10 ... but winning is all that really matters and he simply isn't as dominant as he once was ...

his best chance is gonna be the masters cuz they limit the field there ... but outside of that ... he's gotta tee it up against fields that are hitting it further and putting better ...

i would say lefty is better than him ... rose ... scott ... stenson ... rory (when he sorts out his clubs like tiger had to) ... jason day ... then the US guys like spieth, mahan, simpson, dufner, etc ...

when was tiger's last major? ... 2008? ... i know he's been hurt for part of that drought but it's been a while ... same thing with federer ...

This is pretty ridiculous, the 10 guys you picked have a combined total of 82 career PGA wins and 12 majors while Tiger has 79 wins and 14 majors. Outside of Phil, Tigers won more tournaments since he's returned in 2009 than any of the others have in their entire careers. You picked a guy with 1 career win in Spieth and even more laughable you put Mahan of all people on your list even though he's ranked 31st in the WGR and has never finished in the top 3 in a major in the 32 he's played over his career. You put such an emphasis on majors yet only 2 of these players have won more than 1 while 4 of them haven't even won one yet but in your eyes they're all better than Tiger who somehow is ranked 1 in the world despite his mediocre ball striking and inability to drive or putt.

you're missing the point altogether ... the fact you are bringing up career wins is pretty clear on that ... it's not about who's the better golfer over their careers to date ... it's about who is the better golfer now ...

if tiger is sooo good - why hasn't he won a major in 5 years?

my point is simply that he's like federer in that he will still be up in the leaderboard but it's gonna be really hard for him to win a major because there are a lot of guys that he has to beat now that are just as good if not better than him ...

there simply aren't a lot of guys better than Tiger, he's #1 in the world for a reason. When he drops out of that spot there will be someone better, until then......best player in the world

with golfnow and priceline and some of these other websites ... you can actually plan one quickly and not too expensive ... on a whim last year we planned a trip to ft. lauderdale ... it was a bit much tho ... 3 days; 3 nights; 5 rounds ... all in less food/booze with flight ... $700 ...

our usual trip is to myrtle ... played nearly every course there ... this year we got a cheap flight to orlando and went there instead ... good thing cuz we looked at the forecast the week we usually go (week before the rates go up in february) and it was cold and wet that whole week ...

we may never go back at that time of year ...

but we have a soft spot for carolina roadhouse ... hahaha

ahh, yes, carolina roadhouse is one of my favorites down here as well. The weather this Feb. has been pretty terrible, probably the worst I've seen in 20 years down here. It's all relative I guess, hopefully the grass turns green for all the northerners sooner rather than later.
