    Makes sense to me.  I've heard this idea from various sources for many years but not seen any movement that way.
    I brought this up a while back.  I considered the US "meddling" in south Americas affairs in order to bring them around but maybe it's just not possible.

    Look at Haiti.  You can throw as much money as you want at that country and it's still corrupt.

    A whole lot needs to change before they turn good.

    Depending on where and how a wall were erected — in the middle of a river, say — it could even act like a dam.

Pretty f**king sick to view girls as items for trade or pawns for assisting men with their immigration objectives? If not useful to men... then nothing but burdens?

    This wall business has me fuming this morning.  That 6 billion dollars could go toward education, both here and south of the border.  Education is the key to solving so many problems.  That may sound over-simplified (and to a degree it is) but basically I think it's true.  But no, half this crazy country wants to use that money to build a stinkin' wall. 

    I need a punching bag this morning.  Or maybe go out to the garage and break some shit.  :lol:

    That last one about water sharing is already a problem as there is little to no water heading down that way so cross that one off.  The rest can stay!

    If they loosen up on the immigration rules maybe less people would come across illegally?  I don't know.

    The wall is supposed to be a deterrent and to enter through legal means.

    Comparing it to Israels wall is a wee bit different as our neighbors below aren't sending mortars over and we aren't retaliating or vice versa.

    We have had a wall for years, people are still coming over.  Lather, rinse, wash repeat.

    Well my state, CO, which has a teacher salary about 20% below the average, just voted down a very small tax increase that would increase education funding. It was something like 015% only to those who make over 100k. And it failed miserably. Wasn't even close. So that 5 billion won't be going to education. Parents don't want to fund their kid's education, but expect more and more from schools.

    That’s ridiculous. I don’t know what’s wrong wirh those people. I’m guessing that the high earners generally send their kids to private school; since they didn’t see a personal benefit, they’re willing to say “screw you” to all the other kids.

    I think most didn't bother reading it. There really was no campaign or advertisement for it. I think people saw the word "tax increase" and stop reading and vote no. Didn't even realize it may not apply to them, and even if it did were talking $150 for someone making 100k.

    This is the part that consistently gets me.

    Further... once many people have no direct need for the schools... their levels of support wane from barely adequate to zero.

    Don't get me wrong: there are many great and supportive people backing schools and teachers. But there are far too many that simply don't get it.
