Did they trade him because they think he's a bust or are they rebuilding?
I think for room for Ohtani.
Yeah, they dump about $20M in salary with the other 2 players sent to Atl. Nice starting point to make the numbers work for Ohtani.
Moving position players around... Cmon, they won't need position players.  It's not just about salaries.

The M's ownership gave DiPoto less money to field the team next year, so a good bit of it probably is about salaries even if they don't sign Ohtani.

Dodgers just had a 3hr meeting so lets see if M's are still in the running...

Why on earth would you take a team that is on the cusp of contending and allot less money?

The article I read mentioned their RSN increased in price and they lost customers.

Is this anything to do w that carrier going bankrupt?

Mark Cuban claims that he sold the team in order to get better marketing/viewership for the Mavs.

Strange play but thats what he said.

He doesn't want to come out and say he sold it as part of getting gambling legalized in TX and building out the area with the casino folks he sold to.

Didn't expand much more than that, so I don't know. I was primarily reading as an Atl fan trying to see why Seattle was trading those players.

    I read that too.
  • Soto to Yanks.  Good for them.

Slow beginner, hot ender.  Perfect for the Yanks and a short porch to boot.

I love that the Reds are adding....but unless they plan to trade away some of their abundant young IF talent I don't understand their "big" signing of Candelario.
They need a veteran starter not another IF.
Most clubs have loads of money to spend, but not Reds.  Need to make this count.
Hope this means they are cooking up a trade.

I think they all have the money. I read a breakdown of how the Giants could pretty easily swing ohtani, yamamoto, the other korean(?) dude AND chapman. giants may have more $$$ than reds, but they’re all getting rich(er).

Point.  Correction would be Reds won't spend money like most teams

none of them LIKE to spend it. “small market” is always a convenient excuse.

I just saw a blurb that Ohtani’s going to toronto.

can’t confirm, but if it’s true, you heard it from me first.

Jays got him.  I like that.  Good market to have him in
