Pinch hitting with 2 outs and down by four with a perfect game going? Kind of a scumbag move IMO.

I don't think there was anyway that ump was going to say he didn't go around? Who was that guy who lost the no hitter to a bad umpire call a couple of years ago?

If ever there was evidence that some people take theoretical stats like WAR way too seriously, the latest si.com Power Rankings column is it. They have the Royals ranked 7th because their WAR says they should have a .544 Winning Percentage and 8 wins instead of 3. They just lost their 11th consecutive game, but FanGraphs says their formulas that are supposed to predict results is less-flawed than reality so they're #7.

I just opened this thread to start an X-WL (expected win loss) discussion and was pleasantly surprised to see this post. I actually do think it is a good indicator of where a team will end up later on in the year. I expect the Royals to start racking up some wins based on what you wrote above, and I expect the Nationals' winning percentage to drop significantly within the next few weeks. Record of 1 run games is interesting to view at the same time as X-WL.
