i took the wins and losses for each team in each division vs. non-divisional teams (within the same league - so, no interleague) ... to see if it highlights which divisions have the best teams ...

    AL East 198 162 55.00%
    AL Central 166 194 46.11%
    AL West 170 178 48.85%
    NL East 196 172 53.26%
    NL Central 189 214 46.90%
    NL West 286 277 50.80%

looks like the NL West is not too shabby ...

I don't think they gave away damaged goods, at least not on purpose. The injury seems to have occurred after he was traded.

Hows that trade working out yankee fans?

About as good as the Crawford signing is doing for you, actually better considering Pineda's making $600k and Crawford is making $100 something million.

The Nationals have to be the surprise team so far this season. Man, the Nationals on the rise, Capitals move on in the playoffs, the WASHINGTON FOOTBALL TEAM about the get a first rate QB and Wizards well hardly a NBA standard team at the moment.

Yeah, but we didn't have to give up our best prospect in a decade for him.

Its not uncommon for a player to get paid for his earlier work in the later years of his contract. But shouldn't the team paying the crazy high salary have benefitted from that player's earlier years?

So... who thinks Philly will still win the NL East this year? I know its early and I'm biased but I am feeling a Braves divison title.

I have no idea. I will say that I don't think anyone is running away with things this year.

the Phils need to find some offense somewhere. Even when/if howard and utley come back their lineup/bench still suck.

I'm a long-suffering Mets fan. Found out today that Jason Bay is out on the DL and Mike Pelfrey is out for the season, Tommy John surgery. Ladies and genlemen: Your 2012 New York Mess! Ugh, here we go again.

You know your rotation has no depth when everyone is this concerned with the fifth starter. At least the Mets enjoyed the first week of the season

Delmon Young was arrested outside the Tigers' hotel in NY at 2:40 AM. He was "highly intoxicated" and pushed someone to the ground. He was so drunk that the police had to take him to the hospital to sober up before they could take him to jail. He's being charged with 3rd-degree assault.

Not only was Delmon Young charged with misdemeanor assault, he was also charged with a misdemeanor hate crime for making anti-Semitic remarks during the assault. Aaron Gleeman at hardballtalk.com notes that today also happens to be the 6 years to the day since Young was suspended for throwing his bat at an umpire in a minor league game. Perhaps he was out celebrating that?
