3-2 Astros. Wow, what a damn game. Verlander FINALLY gets a win. Does he flip off the Philly fans again?
Should have been a bigger score but that Philly infields defense is amazing. Bregman isn't any slouch either. Dude can field.
At times anyway...
Rhys was totally not amazing mishandling that dribbler up the line. Keith Hernandez he is not.

They stopped some runs yesterday.
Yeah at times they stop runs (Bolm double play) and at times they give them up (Hoskins mishandling that grounder that led to Houston's third run).
I didn't count that one. Game would have been out of reach had they not stopped other plays. That rundown was good.
I think the point they are making is the Phillies are generally bad at defense. They constructed the team knowing they would be deficient in that area, but that they could slug their way to the post season.

I thought the reason they stayed w Stott was for defense? His bat happened to come around, Bohm was abysmal the beginning of this year I believe but got better and made plays this playoffs.
It was Bohm in the beginning of the year that got booed or was that last year?
I didn't follow the Phills all year so the fans would know better than me.
Bohm going from "I fucking hate this place" to a fan favorite is absolutely all time
Literally overnight. He owned up to it and got a standing o the next day.

Schilling should totally be in. If it was based on regular season only, he'd be borderline. But he's one of the best (if not the best) postseason pitchers of the past 30 years. Check out his postseason W/L record and ERA compared to other hall of fame starting pitchers from that era. Only Smoltz comes close....
Curt Schilling: 11-2 with a 2.23 ERA John Smoltz: 15-4 with a 2.67 ERA Greg Maddux: 11-13 with a 3.27 ERA Tom Glavine: 14-16 with a 3.30 ERA Randy Johnson: 7-9 with a 3.50 ERA Jack Morris: 7-4 with a 3.80 ERA Mike Mussina: 7-8 with a 3.42 ERA Pedro Martinez: 6-4 with a 3.46 ERA

Josh Beckett 7-3 w 3.07 ERA I always thought he was overlooked.

Yeah he was great in the postseason. I was only listing hall of famers though. Another guy not listed but who I think will make the hall of fame is Madison Bumgarner. 8-3 (Really you can call him 9-3 since he pitched like 5 innings in that game 7 to earn the save) with a 2.11 ERA.

I also shit on the Phillies earlier in the year. They really came around.
This was an entertaining WS. Not the best but it was good. I believe it got better ratings than the other sports.

McGriff and Schilling are on the cusp.
Palmiero I don't think gets in for a bit because he got popped and lied to congress.
People cry for Keith Hernandez? Dude was pretty damn good but not HOF good.
Are you mistaking Mattingly (Yankee) for Hernandez (Met)?

I always read about Hernandez fans chirping about how he gets snubbed from the HOF conversation whenever Mattingly gets mentioned.
Just wanted to chime in that he isn't good enough to be in the Hall either and neither is Mattingly.
