I always bring up that Wade Boggs hit like 27 HR in 86 or 87.  That was HUGE back then.  No way did that dude do steroids.
Boggs could have hit 20-30 hrs if he wanted to. He focused more on average instead of swinging for the fences.
Plus, he had the ability to will himself invisible.
    This weekend we rock Portland

Low scoring games between the Guardians and Rays. Great pitching though. Kinda pulling for Cleveland (and Seattle) in the AL since it’s been awhile since they won it all.

Glad they don’t have the “ghost runner” on second base in extra innings for the playoffs.

I agree w that and I will tell you why.

In 96 or 97 I went to a game at the Kingdome and he was taking batting practice.  He was jacking them in the upper decks.  Strawberry was next putting them in the same spot as Boggs.

Boggs went up again and was hitting them even further now.  Straw man did not want to be shown up so he went up again and placed them in the same area too.

    THAT was friggin cool.

I will also add that people went NUTS when Bo Jackson broke the bat over his knee.  Well, when Boggs did it we never heard a peep...
  • I was bummed that the Jays and M's played against each other.  I was hoping they would both go to at least a full round of playoff baseball.

That Blue Jays team needs a shake up.  Way too much talent on that team to not go anywhere in the playoffs.

Mariners are going to upset the Astros.

Musgrove is a friggin beast.  Love that guy.  I think he gets better these next few years.

Everyone is shitting on the Mets.  They fell off at the wrong time while everyone else got hot.

Since the AS break they played like 20 games over 500 ball.  Braves did 30 something over 500 ball.  The Mets played great, the Braves, unconsious.

I think the Mets ask for it, in general, based on their overall Met-ish-ness, don't they?

I have a few Mets fan friends and they are sitting on the team and ownership far more than I see anyone else doing it.  None of them are apologists...

There are plenty of stones to throw at them, sure.

If you look at the stats I gave you above and add in the cold factor at the wrong team there are plenty of reasons to shit on them.

Not apologizing it's just real easy to shit on them when you don't have to.

Their aces didn't get it done when they needed to and their bats went silent when needed most.

The Mets are going to lose a lot of players to free agency. Won't be able to re-sign them all.

There's not many things I enjoy in sports more than seeing the Mets choke

Watching the Padres fans yuk it up during the trumpet song was icing on the cake.

Their performance against teams with losing records in September, especially that sweep to the Cubs is the latest evidence why the soft schedule stuff is nonsense. There are players on those teams trying to prove themselves in the majors to either their current team or other teams and among the best ways to do so is get good results against contending teams with All-Star players.

Braves are going to roll over the Phillies.

    Dodgers sure.

    Sometimes teams face unhittable pitchers.

Sometimes lifelong average pitchers get stuff so nasty all of a sudden at 29, they make Mike Scott look like an average pitcher

Hopefully noone has to face pitchers with bright red ears next round, even the phils.

Musgrove has been pretty good for a bit now.  he did throw a no no his rookie year.
