Very similar to ours at Mtn Park, only you guys got Anytime and we got Bermuda Highway and Where to Begin.

How awesome is the stretch from SFS>RunThru>Touch2>LayLow? That just makes the whole show in my book. The whole catalogue rocks, but this stretch is fuckin euphoric.

MMJ is part of the new Hurricane Katrina compilation on iTunes. They do a rawkin version of "Carnival Time" with the Preservation Hall Jazz Band from JazzFest this past spring (where Pearl Jam also played). It's only $0.99, so get after it kids!

i have to say they are a better band live than pearl jam they just give off so much energy.

Dude, I didn't want to be the one to say it but........ I think the baton has been passed.

I'm not saying the energy from the crowd at the show wasn't good, but PJ crowds are still above in that territory. But, like you said, I hate to say it, but I think I made a decision last night that this band is now officially my favorite live band. At the least it's tied.

Yup, the baton has been passed. Its so weird for me to say it, but the overall show is better than the 2010 version of Pearl Jam. I've always thought PJ's live act as the gold standard, nothing better. Now there are two.

My euphoria was the NYE show. Dondante>Smokin From Shootin>Touch Me Pt 2>Run Thru

A few hundred shows under my belt and I've never seen anything like that. After that night, there was no doubt Pearl Jam was 1A and they were 1B.

I had a hard time getting good pics at Mountain Park....so much freakin smoke..they musta had like 50 smoke machines on stage

pearl jam, mmj, wilco and radiohead

by far, the best live bands out there right now-in no particular order-each is a different musical experience

that's pretty close. i like where your head's at, but i have to nitpick.

    1a mmj
    1b arcade fire
    2a wilco
    2b pearl jam

radiohead is great, but i don't think they are quite on the level as far as the live experience as the 4 bands metioned above....i don't think there is a better frontman than jim james. maybe ever, but i guess it just depends on personal taste.

It's just an muffled howl, I believe. The liner notes in the It Still Moves cd end at "The fact that my heart's beating, is all the proof you need." Whoa!!!!!!!

What a song. On NYE and Okonokos, the song ends with Patrick's mega-drum solo.

I am really surprised there are still tix left for the first two MMJ shows in NYC

I know those albums are less popular, but its not a large venue

    might have to go!

It's possible that I might have 2, 3, or even 4 tickets to get rid of for Z and Evil Urges depending on who actually ends up going with me. Nothing's been finalized yet, so I may have some extras for Friday and Saturday.

Thanks-I may be looking for Friday tix
I was only planning on going Thurs and Sat, but it looks like Fri may be on the radar

I will look around and see if any of the recent shows are available-dont see any of the recent shows up yet
but check out archive.org they have a bunch of past shows
  • If I have extras, Rachel/Shawn and Get_Right are on my radar. I'll know more in the coming weeks. Yeah, I can only swing Z/EU as well. TTF, AD and ISM will certainly kick major ass, but the night everyone will be talking about is Z. 47 minute album stretched to 90 minutes. The possibilities are endless with this set:

Wordless Chorus, It Beats 4 U, Gideon, What A Wonderful Man, Off The Record, Into The Woods, Anytime, Lay Low, Knot Comes Loose, Dondante

My head will most likely have exploded by the end of Dondante. They're gonna have to wheel me out of that place.

Well I experienced both Arcade Fire and MMJ live for the first time this month.

As much as I enjoyed MMJ I have to give the edge to Arcade Fire for live performance, they blew me away. Black Keys are also great live.

i was very late to the party. didn't hear a single mmj song til they opened in 06. cmac saturday was my first chance to see them while actually knowing the songs they were playing. didn't get anywhere near the setlist i was hoping for and it was still the best show of the summer. i don't know what to compare it to other than my first pearl jam show. i will travel to see this band. and considering the upper shell and lawn were virtually empty on a beautiful saturday, i'll probably have to. did they overestimate their drawing power or does the rochester/syracuse/buffalo market just suck? if my wallet survives the matador vegas thing, i'm gonna have to catch either the tennessee fire or it still moves show in nyc.
