DMB Live show 3 hours = 7 songs
PJ Live show 3 Hours = 34 songs

TV has killed my attention span so I will take Pearl Jam

It's always interesting to see what bands the other Pearl Jam crazies like.

I love Incubus, hell maybe they are even my second favorite band. A lot of people here, to my surprise, don't like them.

DMB on the other hand, I think is a worthless pile of shit, no talent ass clown. But a lot of people here love them.

I'm at least pretty sure that not many people around here like, say, Nickelback..... they make DMB look like the Rolling Stones.

I actually saw DMB in Dallas this last Saturday night, and it was a good show, but DMB is no Pearl Jam...not even close. Before I went to the show that night I watched the new PJ DVD and it made it even more clear...nobody is as tight as PJ, nobody!

*also on a side note, I've come to realize that Dave Matthews is the Paul Simon of our generation...think about it, the connection to Africa, loves horns, tons of people on stage etc. :)

I always thought of him more as a James Taylor. The sensitive singer song writer that helps straight guys get laid.

    Who wins?
I recall Rolling Stone or Spin declaring DMB the "New Kings Of Rock" a few years back, yet quoting Dave saying "Compared to Pearl Jam, we are like Elmer Fudd"...For me...I have always respected DMB musically, but it was tough to find something in their music when it was being played in EVERY dorm room back in College...Now, I like them much more because of the limited exposure to that "scene"...

easiest way to decide is going to a show....

Pearl Jam and their fans for the most part are pretty interactive when i went to DMB everyone was just talking amongst themselves getting high and drunk (which happens at PJ too but not as obvious to me) and could have cared less who was on stage, i guess just being seen at DMB concert was good enough for them

    thats just my experience tho

I'm a huge DMB fan, but like someone else said, it's apples and oranges, totally different vibe. I love the way they bring the songs to life with their crazy ass 20-minute improv jams.

And whoever said Dave Matthews was like James Taylor...

Without a doubt PJ - I don't get the DMB love - to each his own but I don't think I willingly listened to a DMB song since Don't Drink the Water ("there's blood in the water :o ")

This needs to be put to the test in an all day battle at Alpine, with both bands joining forces to close out the night.

DMB was super solid up until the Lillywhite sessions in 2000

Once they stopped working with Lillywhite, they made a huge change ... which a lot of fans from the beginning think for the worse

it's a different sound now than their first 3 albums ... which were awesome
