Some could make an argument for Green Day and Red Hot Chili Peppers for the American List.
I'd love to see those arguments.
Even though i wouldnt agree with them...

RHCP easily deserve to be in the conversation. The one thing that really suffers is their live shows, but you can only take away so much b/c of the one guy that blows live(Keidis). They have pretty solid studio output, and whether you like their direction or not they haven't just made the same album over and over. On top of this the guys can just play.

I totally agree with you about Keidis, lame lyrics and sounds bad live. Too bad Frusciante is out of the band again, he was their best musician.

Because they have staying power. After 19 years they can still crank out great hits that do not all sound like the ones that were on the previous albums. Yes, there are many, many great U.S. bands out there. But I am here because PJ is my favorite and I choose to be here. I don't have time to waste surfing through endless threads on other bands' fan pages who are not my favorite. Maybe some of you should find other things to do with your time as well.

Couldn't agree with you more, #1...different sound from album to album, and they all sound great. Also, my intent in starting this thread was not to say PJ is the only good US band, rather, the best.
Having said that, nearly 100 posts later and I'm pleased at the respectful debate we've in which we've engaged. Thanks for keeping the negativity away from this thread.
True...my biggest surprise was meeting Eddie's mom before the '98 Cox Arena show in San Diego. Any others out there who met her that night...or another night?
