They gave a very good reason as to why they didn't try for the DP here.... In any case, he's in prison for the rest of his life, so I don't understand why someone would also like him to go through the very lengthy DP process, which would cost more money and force the victim's family to repeatedly come back and deal with it all over again.

Yes they did.  I knew he would never get the DP ... but he scalped her alive, that should bump him up in line.

If you torture your victim before you murder them then you do not deserve to use resources on this earth...

But the DP doesn't prevent resources from being used up at all, so your theory goes out the window on that one. EDIT: like HFD already pointed out.
