    seriously, what is going to happen in november? i absolutely DARE you, no TRIPLE DOG DARE you to run a series of candidates whose platform is the following:
    1, give back to insurance companies the right to drop or deny coverage to people with pre-existing conditions
    2, not allow kids to stay on their parents insurance until age 26
    3, open back up the donut hole in medicare rx drug plan
    4, allow insurance companies to again arbitrarily raise premiums up to 39% for no reason at all like blue cross did a few months ago
    5, deny or repeal coverage to the 35 million people that were just covered by the new law...
    6, raise taxes again on middle income americans while cutting taxes on those making over $250,000, the opposite of what the new law does...
    and these 6 items are under just one law opposed by the gop AND the teabaggers...

    i absolutely dare you to run people that will campagn on that and see what happens and how badly the floor gets wiped with them.

    even better, i dare you to run teabag candidates to siphon votes from the gop to virtually guarantee obama and the dems re-election...i dare you to do it...

    If you don't think this is actually true, we wouldn't be in the political situation we are. 50% of the voting population doesn't vote in a presidential election and 60-65% in congressional elections. So to answer your question, wholeheartedly yes... people do not care because they do not participate, stay involved or even educated on the issues of the day.

    Yes some care, but as a whole, it doesn't compensate all that much into practice because our system has been so deluded with corruption and impenetrable to change to root it out. The idea of incorporation has undermined any possibility of change and progress through the system to fix it... ie the only way to fix it will be from the outside and not attempting to participate in it (elections, partisan politics, etc).

    A Two-Sided Coin

    We can safely draw two conclusions from these facts, which serve to inform our understanding of the relationship between religion and government in the United States.

    First, Christianity was the prevailing moral and intellectual influence shaping the nation from its outset. The Christian influence pervaded all aspects of life, from education to politics. Therefore, the present concept of a rigid wall of separation hardly seems historically justified.

    Virtually every one of the Founders saw a vital link between civil religion and civil government. George Washington's admonitions in his Farewell Speech, September 19, 1796, were characteristic of the general sentiment:

    Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, religion and morality are indispensable supports....And let us indulge with caution the supposition that morality can be maintained without religion. Reason and experience both forbid us to expect that national morality can prevail in exclusion of religious principles.
