as US fans, what do we want this afternoon. I know we don't want germany in round 1, so I'm assuming we want them to win...right?

Yeah, I think a Germany win would give them the group and we would get Serbia if they win. I believe, could be wrong.

Obviously, If Germany wins the group, I think the US has a better chance facing Ghana, Serbia, or even Austrailia. Plus, if I read the brakets correctly, we could avoid Germany, England ,and Argentina as they would be in the other half of the bracket. If we could win the next match I think we would face the winner of Uruguay and South Korea.
...got a mind full of questions and a teacher in my soul...
  • That was a nervy 90 minutes this afternoon, let me tell you!

Well done to the US for getting through as well. I think they're showing all the right signs of becoming a major player in world football (which I always thought would be just a matter of time). It'll be interesting to see who both teams draw for the next round, could be any one of four teams!!

(please not Germany for England though!! )
It's gonna be a glorious day...

damn that game was amazing and i'm not even a diehard. It's recommended viewing in a bar if you can, especially with the type of atmosphere in some of these places.

I think it's the second best behind Nevada Smith's. Best thing though was the equal amount of British and American fans as the games were being played at the same time.

Anyone watch the 30 for 30 last night? Good stuff. I remember when that happened, but don't remember it being nothing more than a blip on ESPN at the time.

And I think I can now say I've seen/read anything and everything on Pablo Escobar.

I'd love a shot at redemption against Ghana after our last WC game in 2006 and the bad ref call to give Ghana a PK for the win. I'd think they'd be easier to beat than Germany too.

Not familiar with Nevada Smiths but I do enjoy Baker St. Sounds like a good time, cool that it was mixed and seperate games.

Um,. if Aussies can score one more I believe. I think that is what the announcers on the german game said. That would be awesome.

has to be two more goals of differential ... so 2 goals by Aussies, or one by them and one by Germany or 2 by Germany.

I saw it was on but didn't catch it. Really wanted to. Anyone know if these are avilable online or on dvd or some shit?

I think it was pretty big news when it happened. I went to a 5 games of that world cup and was shocked when it happened. I think that was when I realized soccer was a pretty big deal everywhere else.

So, as of now, looks like the US would get Ghana ... who beat the US in the 2006 World Cup in a game the US needed to win to advance ... if memory serves me correctly.
