why did you go on such a rant about the tea party when clearly cosmo's post had nothing to do with it? why not just quote brandon instead of looking foolish? your post made me embarrassed for you too...
Trying to kill two birds with one stone ..........looking foolish to you guys means nothing to me.......are you guys the posting gestapo!

Under Universal Healthcare this is obviously one concept we don't have ... pre-existing condition.
So are we strangers now? Like rock and roll and the radio?

yep, if that was an old injury and your insurance switched they will not pay for the surgery, its a pre-existing condition. was it an injury or was it a degenerative change that caused the tear? all these tea baggers say that government will get between you and your doctor in making decisions, but the whole point of medicine is to start conservative and try non-surgical interventions and exhaust them before resorting to surgery. what your situation tells me is that insurance would have you believe that surgery should be done at the time of injury, which is the insurance company dictationg your care and getting between you and your doctor. for orthopedic issues like a torn meniscus there are several non-surgical interventions that are cheeper that should be tried first. any physician will tell you that.. if you are rushed in for knee surgery you run the risk of things like early onset arthritis down the road..which would give you another "pre-existing condition" but that is a topic for another thread....

The terrible thing about this was that Mega Health Insurance approved the surgery before hand and knew the cost but STILL had the power to not pay for the surgery. There wasn't a damn thing I could do other than refused to pay the $5000+ bill till they agreed that I could pay only $1100. I was paying them $330 a month 10 years ago, I don't know what the people who are self employed are going to do in this country. Yes we could pay 4-$500 a month but still these insurance companies can and WILL find a way to deny YOU coverage.

i am 34 years old. i would appreciate you not condecending to me and talking to me like i am a little kid. i have been through a lot and i have sensible views. i do not have a family because i have chosen to not have one yet. i am fighting for what is best for my country and its people. i am fighting for my generation and for the ones that come after me. to be quite honest, i don't really care about your generation, you all will be taken care of by your government. my generation is screwed, we will not have social security and at this point we may not have the strong medicare like you will be getting. i do not need people like you spreading a bunch of BS that has already been debunked like death panels. it is irresponsible and it only makes you look uninformed and foolish. my outlook might change some when i have kids, but my principles will never change. they are galvanized and they are who i am.

aerial you love to make assumptions so for future reference I'll turn 50 next week and I've raised a 13 year old for the last 10 years by myself. So please end speaking nonsense through assumptions and I'm sure I've experienced far more than you for you to say something foolish like this.

Let's face it's been said before from people outside the USA why we can't get health care done it's needed and it has to get done. Some say we have the best health care in the world but what good is it if one can't afford it or get axis to it.

Assumptions, assumptions.... From a health point of view, my daughter will get anything she needs with universal healthcare here. I don't have to worry a bit. As I get even older than I am, I won't have to worry whether my pension money will be able to pay for my medical bills, my potential operations (heart bypass maybe?), etc.

So don't feel embarrassed. I've lived long enough, I'm raising a family, been faced with lots of shit (see previous posts ref my husband as an example) and guess what? My outlook on universal heathcare is still the same. Wouldn't do without.

I have an anecdotal experience that goes to show how fucked up our access to Health Care is...
I have been a voluenteer crew member for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer 3-Day Walk and Avon 2-Day Walk for Breast Cancer Research for the past 8 years. A teammate of mine (Jim) and his 2 daughters and their husbands have been involved for the same amount of time. They voluenteered because his wife, Jackie (their mom) was fighting for her life, due to the very disease were are trying to fight.
Jim worked for (and retired from) an Health Care Insurance Company.
When Jackie was first diagnosed, the insurance kicked in and there weren't any problems and she went into remission for a while. When the cancer re-appeared, all of a sudden, the insurance company (whom he had worked for in a magement position for 30+ years) denied further treatment. They used their savings and his pension and took out a second on their home to pay for the treatment. They not only had to fight the horrible disease... they had to fight the insurance company as well. This should not happen to law abiding, taxpaying American citizens who paid their premiums for the insurance they were told would be there.
Jackie passed away 3 years ago and Jim had to continue to fight the very company he had worked for all of those years. Lawyers got involved and the company finally re-imbursed part of the costs for Jackie's treatments... but none of the hospice care and end of life comfort costs.
    ...
This shouldn't be the norm. All that talk about 'Death Panels' and shit.... the Death Panels are already at YOUR insurance companies. They decide whether you are a liability or not to their shareholders. It sickens me that this happens to people like Jim and Jackie in our country.
Anyway, we dedicate our Pit Stop at the San Diego 3-Day Walk in Jackie's memory.
    ...
Those of you whom are against Health Care reform... I hope you never have to face the realities of the system in place. The system is fucked up because its primary concern in the bottom line, not your best interests. This has been going on for way to long in our country and doing nothing about it isn't going to fix it.

And people wonder why a guy will grab a gun and shoot up the place.
There will be Committees deciding who is illegible for what .... Same as the insurance death panels...

what are you talking about?? :?

you have made it clear that the only reason you oppose it is because your tea party told you to. your side has been DESTROYED in this thread, when presented with facts and figures and even experiences of those in other countries you conveniently ignore all of that. if you will not continue the debate i am done here....

Maybe the Earl Grey Scrotumface supporters can opt out of the UHC with a tax deduction and that way they dont have to worry about waiting in line for the substandard care they are so afraid of. Maybe they can have their own healthcare insurance and clinics ! They can have a BIF (Balls in Face) clinic in every city that caters just to them.

and weren't you the one in the cheney thread the other day having a big waaah about the the double standards on this board and calling them pathetic?
