Why don't you like him, I know you can't like everybody/athlete in every sport. Your definately going to dislike some people. I know people that never liked Gretzky. I could never figure it out. He is the best player the sport has seen, you have to give credit where credit is due, He is simply the best at golf.
Hope he wins today, would be a monster comeback and just nother record to add to already amazing collection, he never won a major when trailing after 54 holes.

its tradition, one of my very good friends feels about golf, the way i feel about music and art. he craves. anyways, years ago, I went to the country club here, several with him, and alot of courses require that dress. the collared shirt is required. Cant say I enjoyed getting dressed up, but thats the deal with golf, same with tennis, its very prim and proper. very wealth based. I think i played a few rounds with my long hair and beard, but ithink i always had a collared shirt at the country clubs.

oddly enough i held the scorecard for an official pga event here in eugene in 1999. pretty surreal. tiger wasnt there though

i wouldnt count tiger out. thats what he thrives on. the same way jordan, or kobe or james thrives on people saying "oh they arent gonna win", tiger lives and excels when that stuff is said about him. i have told this story several times, but since my good friend is so into golf, i remember years ago, 6th grade doing a report on tiger who had just won his first major, the masters in 1997 was it? anyways, i remember tiger back then saying "i am gonna beat nicklaus' 18 majors". We all knew he was good, but how many people actually thought he would do it? the guy is just a few shy of 18. thats unbelieveable. incredible. i think tiger is a jerk frankly. a total idiot. he obviously has major personal problems. but golf wise, he is the best to ever play. even if he was to quit as I originally said, right after this masters, win or lose, he still would be considered the best of all time, or maybe 2nd best of all time since he wouldnt have the 19 majors. for being so young, its mind boggling all he has accomplished. thats sort of what i hinted at months ago. that, when you are considered the best in the world at something, maybe the best of all time, where do you go from there? Jordan, kobe, all these guys need, physically need the challenge of winning new things, of breaking records, and my contention was that nicklaus 18 no longer meant anything to him, or he started to tire and get bored of golf. i stand by that.

    cool story.
    thanks :)

I had an experience once where i parked my Kenworth 18 wheeler tractor trailer on the country club tennis court in Long Beach, California. I was getting bleachers and scaffolding loaded onto my flatbed trailer. The tennis court was full of these tall ass bleachers and ppl tearing them down for transport. The tennis court was completely covered in these 3 inch screws. I was so pissed. I was on the phone callin everybody involved. If I get a flat tire I'm gonna flip. I told the dude in charge nicely how I felt about having me park on all these screws. Next thing you know he had about 3 dudes pickin up screws. I also helped. Never did have a flat on that trip. Thank God.

btw, this place is very uppity & pretentious.

    not this place.

Just wondering, have you ever played golf before? I don't think he throughs tantrums out there. He gets frustrated, I have never heard him swear, the worst he ends up saying is "God Damm It", and that isn't that bad. I've been there when playing golf, you get frustrated, could only think what the pressure of the Masters does to someone, when he expects nothing but the best.

just because you don't hear him curse doesn't mean he's not doing it. all golfers curse its just that tiger seems to do it the loudest around people and kids. anyways it's good to see tiger back on the course and lefty winning after all the shit he's been through. i expect tiger to play only the majors and the ryder cup for the rest of his career.

Congrats to Phil he made the shots and he earned this one and he played the best out of all of them. I wasn't rooting for him, I wanted Westwood to win and The big cat guy played well considering the big layoff, he had everybody watching golf again.

The PGA and the players need him to play, the cat guy brings an audience to watch golf on the tube. BIG CAT will win the US Open heard it hear first.

  • really? you think he will only play 5 professional events a year for the next what is it, 20 more years, a little over twenty years that he has left until he has to go to the senior tour? That seems a little light in terms of events. I could see him reevaluating his commitment to the game once he gets 19 majors, but, i cant imagine what you are saying

You do not watch this guy very often, do you?
It was a pleasure to watch him struggle out there today.
The little putt he missed on 14.Haha, gotta take your time, even on the short ones.
Nothing has changed.Tiger is and always will be the biggest ass on any course he plays.
Now we will see how he gets treated at his next tourney.Away from the heavy hand that is Augusta National.
It was an exciting Masters as usual.
How anyone can't enjoy major championship golf is beyond me.
The shot Mickelson hit from the trees on 13 was one of the best I have ever seen.
I wanted Westwood to win but congrats to Phil.

He will be lucky to get to 18.

Again, lots of haters in this thread. A strong showing from him this weekend. Was a bit wild and lost his putting at times but overall I was happy with how he played, definitely see him winning a major this year.

Every major that passes without this idiot winning makes it that much harder for him.
I have been to many pro golf tournaments. Most before Tiger joined the tour.
I know how players are supposed to act on the course.
Golf is not basketball. There is a level of decorum that is to be followed.
These acts of depravity that he has shown in his personal life are more examples of the character of the man.
No surprise to me when it was revealed, because I had witnessed his petulant behaviour for years.
He couldn't even look people in the eye.Had to wear sunglasses.
After 14 years on tour all of a sudden he has allergies?
Don't let his flashy style blind you to the fact that if you were to say "go Tiger"as he walked by you,
He would not even give two shits, nor acknowledge your presence.
You are nothing to him.Even if you are his #1 fan and buy all his Nike products.
Tiger Woods is NOT bigger than the game of golf.

Yup you're right he's not bigger than the game however he has brought the game to where it is today even you can see that. To where the casual fans and even non casual/non players will watch. I'm not his biggest fan but there's a reason after all this nonsense he's still the #1 player in the world. I like his chances to get to 18 compared to anybody else.

gotta agree somewhat, he's kind of a twat. foul mouth that the cameras have picked up plenty of times in the past, huge ego, and doesn't give a hang about his fans, no matter the age. i've seen him shove small kids out of the way that were asking for an autograph. fuck this guy. never liked him, never will.
