I completely forgot they were playing, but was happy that Google keeps up with what I like to hear about. So I watched them on Hulu (the musical performances) and have to say I liked what I saw. I wish they weren't such a boutique band that I could see them live, but in the meantime, I feel happy with what I did get to see. I think people who don't follow the band might be impressed enough with them to check out the new album.
Thanks for the youtube links. Videos are up on the NBC site, but they lag like crazy.
Both performances were solid, love that Zinn guitar. One thing I noticed is that stage is pretty small for a six piece and strings. Especially the way this group likes to spread out.

They looked absurdly crammed up the whole time! McCready looked like he had about a 30" circle that he had to stay in the entire duration of "Unthought Known", which clearly is not how he normally operates. Anyway, I thought they chose two perfect songs for that performance and can't wait until they return to NYC in May. Fingers crossed for the 10C onsale this week!
Just watched - that was painful. Sloooooooow. Have to watch on the blu-ray later. Awesome performances though. But seriously, what else would you expect?
pj was in a skit? good thing I dvr'd it, I've got to go back and find that
Yeah, they were in a skit. The Twilight Zone skit.
which was totally the most unfunny skit in the whole show. I miss good SNL. Its such a shame to becuase Hader, Samberg, Myers, Sudekis, Forte, Wiig and Armisen are really funny, its so poorly written though it doesn't matter. They are wasting good talent. Its like every skit is about something uncomfortable and "shocking", murder, murder, old people fucking, etc. Its just not irreverent and subversive anymore.

They all looked great!..what a treat! I love Unthought Known..so up lifting. I was thinking what a radiant song to represent...
Bring on May 2010 baby!
I thought they were awesome all the way! Just Breathe was totally expected so I wasn't dissapointed with that at all. Unthought Known, is a wicked song so I was happy. I really wanted them to play Johnny Guitar, that would have made the night perfect for me. The entire album to me is so good, it really didn't matter what they played. I thought they would play just Breathe, and Amongst The Waves.
Unthought Known slays me ... cuts me through the ribcage and into my gut, splits me in two and speaks to both halves. It's judgmental, angry, confrontational, spiritual, loving and hopeful. For me, the SNL performance deepened the song's meaning. I am proud that I love this band because they never stop giving.
I CAN NOT stop watching the Unthought Known performance. McCready hopping around in his McCready way right before the crescendo is electric, Vedder is dead-on with the pitch, and the band is ON FIRE during that song. I've watched it about 10x in a row now.

Unreal. It's akin to buying concert tickets just so you can throw rotten food at the band.
Thumbs up to that one!
